I want a fast but quietish machine - is there anything I can do to improve this build? Would going down the over clocking route just create more noise and power zapping? I have an nvidia GTX480 video card. Yes I know it's not quiet - whats the best fanless video card available? Thanks for looking. A.

Whoops - intend to use it mainly for general use plus a bit high end gaming (but not obessive frame rate wars!). I want to be able to hear the sound above the computer!

Hello arrcoo, welcome to our forums :)

The specification you have selected is very well balanced and physically cannot be made any faster on the AMD side of things, as the 1090T is AMD's flagship processor.

If you wanted to overclock the computer, you will need to go down this route here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/amd-extreme-overclocked/ - we do not charge for an overclock service, but we specify certain components that are required for an overclock, such as thermal paste and a high end CPU fan.

My olny suggestions for improvement would be to change the 640GB HDD to a 40GB or 80GB Intel SSD, which will reduce operating system boot times and allow programs like Photoshop to load faster.

Following on from PCS.

Overclocking will not necessarily increase the noise level of the PC. When underload the CPU Fan may run slightly faster, but it will be difficult to tell the difference between a PC running at stock speeds compared to a PC running overclocked.

Secondly, high-end GPUs run hot these days so anything worth getting for gaming will have a fan on them - in my honest opinion, stick with the GTX480 - it's a beast!!
