View Full Version : PC for Multitasking and Gaming
Hey, so i'm looking for a new pc for, as the topic states, Multitasking different lower usage programs and gaming. By multitasking i mean generally, a game + Photoshop and msn etc, so nothing too heavy.
I would rather use an AMD processor and an ATI Gpu. For now i'll probably take an Ati HD 5850, but i'll likely Crossfire it in a few months, so i'm not sure on the power supply i'll need. (I'll probably be running at 1920x1080) I'd also prefer a dedicated Sound Card, but i'm no expert on sound cards, so any help would be appreciated.
I was thinking maybe getting a slightly worse processor (Within reason of course), and going for 8 GB or RAM instead. Good or bad idea?
And lastly, i know NOTHING about motherboards. They confuse me to hell, so any help would be great.
So all in all, What would you say for Processor, Sound Card and Motherboard.
My budget will be around £1500. Thoughts and suggestions?
Thanks.
Edit: Just a note, things like how quiet it is don't really bother me in the slightest.
Does the £1500 budget include Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse or just the PC Tower alone?
£1500 budget for amd/ati system should be easy enough, I however dont know the AMD CPU's so im not even going to bother recommending a setup :D

Gives you enough power to add a second GPU. If you're going to be overclocking the CPU then upgrade the cooling accordingly :)
Looks good. Thanks very much :D
I have been tinkering around and have struggled to come up with anything better without a ridiculous price hike - e.g going for a 5970!
As you are still well within the £1500 budget, there is plenty you can do;
- add Blu Ray ROM
- change case to one which best suits your taste
- add extra HDDs
- change the CPU Cooling (if you plan of overclocking)
