I have had this new PCS laptop for about a month, it is nearly always plugged in and charging/running, but on the off chance yesterday morning , the power unit was plugged into the laptop but someone had disconnected it from the wall supply.

I got a message onscreen warning that I had 9 minutes of power remaining, discovered it was not plugged in decided to go plug it in. As I went to plug in the power unit, the laptop shut down. No big deal I thought, just let it charge up a bit then power up.

Since then it has not powered up at all. I have the power unit attached but the lights on the front do not register this as charging. The unit will fire up for < 1 second and then turn off. It's as though the power unit, power section or battery has just died.

The real issue is, I'm not sure I want to send it back if it's just a case that the power supply has given up the ghost. I have changed the fuse and still no luck. I have not been able to back up any data and do not wish to lose any of this by sending it back.

What are my options?

Similarly, I think it's terrible that the online chat system only supports sales queries. Unfortunately, some of use in full time employment cannot break away to make personal calls between 9 and 5.

Someone with more tecnical savvy may be able to help better than me but first off I would advise you to take out the laptop battery, plug in the charger and try to boot the laptop that way. If it boots then the battery may be giving you the grief.
Another option would be to take out the laptop battery, press and hold the laptop main power button for between 30 secs - 1 min and then put the battery back in and try to boot the laptop in the normal manner.

Sorry to hear about the problems which you are experiencing with your laptop. There are a couple of options available to you at the moment;

1) Log into your account and request an RMA for the AC Adaptor, return it to us for us to test. If it's faulty, we will dispatch a new one. If it's working then we will return it back to yourself and advise you to request an RMA for the laptop.

2) Request an RMA for the laptop and return it along with the AC Adaptor. We will test both and replace any faulty items with new ones.

"someone had disconnected it". Did they happen to trip over the wire by chance? If so take a close look at the power jack - is it damaged or seems out of place? Does anyone in the house have a similar power supply (check specs!!!) to see if your lappy would power up? If the power supply has a green light on it (it should, I think...) - does it light up when you plug it in?

Just trying to save you an extra RMA trip.
