View Full Version : Optimus II - Cannot press 3 keys at once
Just received my shiny new Optimus II, and even though I'm still in work the first thing I did was install Steam and play Super Meat Boy.
I mapped up the keys, WSAD for movement, J for run and K for jump, same as on my desktop at home.
These keys work individually, but I cannot press, for example, D, J and K (run right and jump) simultaneously, the laptop can only register two keys at once.
Any idea how to fix this as this basically makes the game unplayable.
Are there any drivers on the disc for the keyboard that have not been installed?
Only for the hotkeys but I don't intend on using those.

I read about this when my old keyboard packed in. Most of the consensus was broken keyboard, and trying another one will give you some indication if that is the case.
One other suggestion was to try a PS/2 connected keyboard to see if its a USB related thing.
Food for thought?
This is a laptop, using the built in keyboard.
Oh and the hotkey driver is pre-installed, so it's not that.

A laptop query in the laptop/notebook section! Well I never!!
My bad :)
Although you could try plugging a keyboard in to see if that works...just to narrow it down a bit?
Sounds like maybe the keyboard has a 3-key rollover, my keyboard has a 6-key rollover. Try typing somewhere and holding down keys unti it tops out, for example, hold 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 etc until it stops typing, i can hold down 123456 until the 7th key will not type, this shows a 6-key rollover.
Also some keyboards don't let too many keys too close together being pressed at the same time because they are all mapped to the same wires, more keys have to share the same wires and thus the keyboard gets confused when multiple keys are pressed at once.
Though like DED said, try a different keyboard and Try using the PS/2 connection if possible. Might help.
