Hi, I just got my new PC from PCS and I have been running some tests as I have the Corsair H80i installed, my processor is the 3570K non-overclocked (as I wanted to overclock myself)
Anyway the temps run at around 35 degrees when idle and as soon as I start prime 95 to test it the temps go upt0 the late 60's/early 70's instantly, this is worse temps than my hyper 212 evo and I have not even began to overclock yet...

Do you think I have a problem with how PCS have installed the h80i?

Thanks for any help

I want my PC for Gaming on medium/high settings on new games (far cry 3, Skyrim, Civ, BF3 etc).
But I also want it to last me the next 3 - 4 years.
I have ordered it without a gpu for now as I intend on using my current 550 ti card for the time being, then upgrading in about a year to say the 660.

Spec below:

Case STYLISH BLACK/SILVER TRIDENT CASE + 2 FRONT USB
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3570 (3.4GHz) 6MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P8H61-MX USB3/SI: uATX, USB 3.0, SATA 3.0Gb/s
Memory (RAM) 8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (2 X 4GB)
Graphics Card INTEGRATED GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR (GPU)
Memory - 1st Hard Disk 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 16MB CACHE
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Memory Card Reader INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Power Supply 450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan
Processor Cooling INTEL SOCKET LGA1155 STANDARD CPU COOLER

So I am thinking now:
is the power supply sufficient? (currently and once I update the graphics card?)
is the motherboard good enough?

the cost was £530 but I could spend another £100 if I need to?
order was placed yesterday.
I also don't want to delay the delivery time

Thanks in advance

Hey,

I need some help building an awesome desktop. I mainly use it for Multimedia, I watch loads of films, listen to music and play games too, such as Total War and Metro 2033 so want to be able to play all the latest games with ease on max settings. I also burn a lot of DVDs and have devices such as external hard drives that I connect up to my PC regularly. I seen there was a Thunderbolt motherboard on here not so long ago and that looked cool because i am guessing it has quicker performance in start up as well as transferring files which would be good for me but that seems to have been removed... The other big thing for me is that I use 2 screens nearly all the time, my regular PC monitor and I have that connected to a 46" LED but at the minute I don't think my graphics card is good enough to play games through the big screen I can only just about get a decent screen resolution on the big TV. I am easy when it comes to a budget I think anything up to £2500 is fine but if less can be spent... bonus! I also prefer Intel to AMD. Thanks in advance guys

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new gaming computer. It will be used for gaming primarily. My budget is £800-£1000 for the Unit itself and I would also like some advice on the best peripherals to get at a budget for example, best monitor for FPS games, comfortable mouse and keyboard.

-I would like this machine to be sort of future proof (I know thats impossible these days)
-I would like to play at the highest graphics settings if possible without too much trouble.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Kind Regards,

Hey guys long time!! so I have been away for a while but now I am back, the first major change since I was going to buy my rig is that I am now going to attempt to build it my self - :()
I have picked all most every part outer than the pc case ^^ - any ideas of good pc cases - I had a look at two cases the nzxt phantom 820 full tower case - and the haf-x case - any suggestions?? price can be anything up to £200
the 2nd big change is that I decide to go with 2 4gb 670's instead of 680s since every forum and person I have spoken to says the upgrade from 670-680 is not worth the extra @200 - and the 3rd major change is that I will not be having a hard drive but 2 SSD's. I would just like to thank everyone on pcs for helping my out with my build ideas, and I cant wait to get ordering my parts. I will put a list of all the components I am buying for the pc in a bit - but right now a decision on the case must be made!! :) so please leave some suggestions ^^

Hello Everyone,

I have recently sold my old pc that I bought in 2006 so I think I can allow myself a new one!

Basically, I am looking for some advice on what I should get. My budget is around £1000, give or take.

Because I am willing to spend a fair amount I want to make sure I get the right set up because I want it to last for a long time e.g. as future proof as you can get for around £1000 and since I dont know a huge amount about pcs, I thought it best to ask for peoples opinions.

Anyway, I will be using it for a bit of gaming, photo editing, music and internet etc. Something that can handle a few tasks at once.

The only thing I have decided on really is the case - I quite like the look of the Phantom 410 case. Think I will be sticking with Windows 7. Also , was wondering on whether to get the ssd option to put the OS on and have a HDD for everything else. Seems like a lot of people think this is the way forward. Is it worth the extra cash?

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

I will be using my new pc mostly for gaming but I will Occasionally do things like video editing, graphics work and to browse the Internet, I have Already order my pc but I was given to option to amend it and I was thinking of changing it back to windows 7 because I heard a lot of negative reviews for windows 8.

I used windows 7 before and I know where everything is and how to use it to the max capacity but I feel like I will struggle with windows 8.

My pc is a 3570k,gtx 670 with a ssd and 8gb ram so I think the small benefits that I will gain with windows 8 like faster boot time and less ram won't be noticeable.

But windows 8 is the new tech with dx 11.1 and windows 8.1 is coming soon which they might bring back the start button and more.

I just can't decide and I have been thinking about this for days please help.

I was iniatly going to buy a gaming laptop but you get more bang for your buck with gaming desktops. I would be grateful if some of you with more knowledge than me on desktops could recommend a spec. I am looking for a high end gaming setup that will be able to play all the latest games at high settings for years to come and also with a hdmi port so i can plug into a tv. My budget would be about 1200 but obviously would like the best price to performance possible

Hi iv just been sold this pc from a local dealer

Edit by Rakk: competitor links not allowed, but basically it claimed to have an i7-3770, 8GB RAM (speed unknown), 2GB GTX630, 2TB of HDD space + Wireless

The only problem i have, is that it says the graphics card is Nvidia GT630, but the graphics card only has hdmi and vga connections, there is no dvi connection.

In my device manager it says it is Nvidia GT640.

Is it possible it is not the Nvidia GT640.
