I have had my new laptop for a month so I now feel confident to post a review here. It's great! Simply marvellous and just so much better than any other PC I've ever used - and they go back nearly thirty years to the original IBM XT models, the ones that only had 5¼" floppy disk drives. The CPU and RAM eat up my workload (lots and lots of mathematics and no gaming) but the single best feature is the Seagate Momentus HDD. It is quicker than I ever imagined and my laptop boots up in thirty seconds from pressing the power button. Amazing. The other important feature for me was having a 5 GHz wireless adapter and the Killer 1102 gives a very good performance indeed, in my opinion better than the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 that's installed in my husband's ThinkPad.

So, from a mature student's perspective (which I can easily understand will not be typical of the readers of this forum) this machine delivers an outstanding performance that could not be bettered, certainly within my budget of £700.

Like your review. I'm considering buying an Enigma III, how do you find the noise emmissions from the cooling fan, disk drives etc.

Sorry to be a week late, heywoodg, but better late than never. My Enigma III is as silent as you could imagine except when it was installing software from the optical drive. Then, it was noisy. Very noisy! So much so that my husband walked into the study to see if anything was wrong. Interestingly, he has just taken delivery of an Enigma III 540 and that, too, is silent except for when it's copying a lot of data from the optical drive. Two machines isn't a massive sample, but we're both happy.
