Vortex II - Audio Guide

I've just received my Vortex III and the sound is very disappointing. I've followed the advice here for the Vortex II but it's still rubbish - almost no bass. My 5 year old £300 laptop has much better sound!

Is there any new advice for the Vortex III?

Is that with headphone or do you mean the laptop's speakers? If it is with the headphones, I've eventually come to the conclusion where I decided to find myself a used usb sound card, and I did (asus xonar U3) for 16€ and will be testing it when I get it from my folk's place in Finland. Apparently USB headphones also work pretty well.

From what I've understood they messed up something with the headphone jack amplification in the clevo p150hm (vortex II) shell so the output sound is not as good as what the sound card is capable of. (it's pretty much realtek's top of the line card, although with many features disabled by clevo... I looked into it and the very same chipset is capable of a lot of stuff including EAX, SRS, and Dolby enhancements...)

It's the sound through the speakers that I'm not impressed with. They're Onkyo speakers so I would expect much more, but the sound is just a bit lame.

The sound through headphones is OK.

Hi, I've just got a 15.6" Vortex III LE and have not yet set it up (too busy finding all my downloaded software and serials!) Does this audio issue apply to the III LE as well? Advice would be appreciated.

Another question you may be able to answer: I read in the user guide it was preferable to connect to a monitor via DVI connection. I have been using my Sony laptop with an HDMI connection to my 27" HP Monitor, so would like a link to any article which explains why this is recommended.

Basically there is no difference between HDMI and DVI,except HDMI can carry sound.
