    Monitor help

Hello, I been scouring the web for a decent 1080p monitor. I found a LG E2251VR-BN LCD LED 22" HDMI Monitor however this monitor from the reviews I've read isn't very good for gaming. I will be doing moslty gaming on my monitor, I don't do any photo editing, but even if I did it would be as a hobby, so not too concernced on IPS monitors. The second laptop I've found is Asus VS247H 23.6 inch this monitor appealed to me just as the LG however, after reviews people are saying it isn't very good for gaming. But in all honesty will it actually lag? when playing something like Metro 2033?
Please could you advice me on some of the monitors which would be good for gaming, and visually pleasing. Looking for a monitor in the ranges of 20-24" and a budget of £160 maximum. But if you think I would benefit from a slightly higher priced monitor please do post, but when I mean higher I mean by £40 Thanks.

It all depends what you really want out of it, if you are playing fast paced shooters in official leagues you may get some benefit from getting the "best" monitor, otherwise it's just personal preference.

It's probably best to go to a hardware store, look at a few monitors in action to see which ones you like the viewing angles, contrast, response time, colour representation etc most on.

I myself am considering getting the BenQ XL2420T (XL2410T is the cheaper/smaller/older version).

Some cheaper models that will give good gaming performance: ASUS VE247H, Samsung PX2370, Samsung T22A300, Acer S240HLbid

That's a very nice monitor, slightly out of my price range :P
I'm also considering buying an LG 3D as some of them are about the same price as the ASUS (£150) just wondering if this would work with my GTX 580? I read somewhere it wasn't compatible as it doesn't have a display port?

I don't think the default 580 has a display port, HDMI and 2 DVI if I remember correctly.

Would be surprised though if the monitor doesn't have an HDMI port.

If not you can get an adapter to fix that problem

Samsung S23A700D 23" 120Hz 3D Widescreen Gaming Monitor This one has cought my eye, 120hz, and 3D, so I can use for my PC and PS3!
I won't post the link because it's from another site and I'm sure you can't post links on here from other sites, but it's £200 is that a decent price? Thanks.

If you are interested in using the monitor for 3d gaming make sure the monitor you choose is supported by Nvidia 3D vision.

The specs look quite good for that monitor, however I haven't read any reviews on it so I would suggest doing that before making up your mind.

It's definitely a good price for a 3d one with glasses included but I would double check compatibility first.

Doesn't appear to be Nvidia specific so you probably still need the Nvidia 3d kit. If I remember correctly ATI works with pretty much anything but to work with Nvidia it needs to be certified (not 100% sure though).

I believe that to make a 3d features work with an AMD card a third party software is needed and it is definitely not as straight forward as Nvidia 3d vision.

Wait, what? I'll need a 3D vision kit?! okay forget that idea then. Even still, if I bought the monitor, how easy would it be setting up the 3D with my PS3? Thanks a ton.
