I personally always use F-Secure, they have a free online scanner that is really good to scan a system thoroughly and it will free of charge help to get rid of any malware it finds:

There are quite a few free anti-virus scanners out there but I have always found the above to be really good.

I use Norton, never had a problem with it, but obviously you have to pay for it.

I've heard other talk about Malware Bytes as being good

Also MBAM used in conjunction with MSE is good.

Malware Bytes and Avast should do the job. AVG is not as good as it once was.

Why do you think it has a virus that AVG isn't picking up? The chances of that are very very very small.

It likely has some other problem.
