If you can afford it then try to base your rig on an i5 system.
Even last year's i5's will trump bulldozers.

Can you recommend any builds that would be similar/better with the i5, than the current build above?

Bearing in mind my £700 budget

Going for a similar spec with an i5 system will take you something like £100 over budget.
The AMD processor you have selected will handle any game out at present no problem.
I myself have an older AMD processor & it has no problems with any recent games I have.
Yes the i5 is more powerful but in my opinion the average user wont notice any difference in performance for the vast majority of games, the AMD processor will do the job perfectly well. The suggested specs here would do you fine,

As Fear correctly points out you dont need the 6 core processor I put in my suggested build, but in my opinion 4GB ram is plenty for gaming at the moment,so I would recommend you go with 4GB ram & change the hard disk to a caviar black if it helps keep you in budget & possibly upgrade the CPU cooler to a triple copper heatpipe if you can push to that.

Ok, thanks Vanthus for all your help

I have lowered the RAM to 4GB and changed the hd to caviar black. I have also decided to upgrade to the triple copper heatpipe CPU cooler.

I will place my order in the next couple of days

Agreed with that Vanthus would be the better choice and if needed at a later date you can always add more ram as it's 1 of the easiest upgrades you can do as it just slots in.
