Help me with the scecification, please!

    Hi!
I spent some time and here is the result. The final price is slightly more than 2.600.
It is a bit over the top though, so I would like to know how I can reduce it without reducing system's speed and productivity.
I think that monitor can be 23", what about the processor?
    Any help is welcome.
P.S I am not a gamer, but as a big purchase for me I want to get maximum for my money.
    Thank you!

What do you want to use it for, if not gaming?

The 680 is abit OTT especially if not gaming

    Hello,
What is your intended use? CS5? Rendering? Any cpu instensive application? If you are not planning to game the GTX 680 is overkill.

Hey I see you made a new thread you know people are gonna continue to ask you what you're gonna be using your PC for (video editing, virtualization, photoshop, graphic design...) until you tell us cuz there's no point in trying to advise you without that info.

Requirements for surfing the web are not as high as for 3D modelling for example.

The main use of this PC will be to work with video files /transcoding/.
In the same time if I want to play on latest games, this machine to be capable to do so.
In addition to all written above it is not complisory video card to support 3D.
I want to assemble and rely on this PC without need of upgrade in next few years, if it is possible of course.
And in the end a reasonable price would be arround 2.000.
So I am 600£ over my limit with this one.

Cool well the 3960X is way overkill so I'd go with an Ivy Bridge, it's the newest generation of processors and it'll be more than enough for everything you throw at it.

The GTX 670 supports 3D and is almost similar to the 680, and will max out any game on a single screen. It's the best value for money. The motherboard will allow you to add a second 670 in a few years if you feel like you need to.

I assume you don't intend to overclock the CPU?

Thanx a lot Wolvo7, your post is very reasonable and make a lot is sense.
The price is definitely better, what I want to ask is about the monitor.
Is there a big difference with ASUS?
I am asking this because I will spend a susbstantial amount of time behind it.

Well I don't have this monitor myself but the LLamayas are recommended by many users of this forum, their main advantage is that the response time is low (2ms) compared with 6ms on the Asus.

So the llamayas would be better for things that need fast response times, especially gaming. I would think that the Asus will have better color reproduction which would be better for people doing rendering or 3D modelling, at the expense of a higher response time. Best would be to get a 2nd opinion on that
