Is it for gaming?
I'd get another case (coolermaster 690 II), go for 8gb memory and the i5-3550 (if it is for gaming). I assume you do not wish to SLI in the future.

Yep for gaming but also I do a lot of Photoshop work and no would not be going down the SLI route.
Why the change to the case?
What would be the advantage of the i5-3550?

Its cheaper and you don't really need an i7 for gaming as the hyperthreading of the i7's isnt utilised in games.
The change of case would just be to give better cooling options.

The i7 would give you better performance for photoshop as well as 16gb but if it is only for gaming the i5-3550 would be more adequate with 8gb. As Rakk mentioned, the coolermaster 690 II gives you better cooling options/cable management.
