    pecking order for installing software?

    bought my pc without OS.
i have windows 7 installed and most of my programs are running just fine.

the one that is bugging the hell out of me is AI suite 2.
it installs and runs , but the fanexpert 2 program fails to work.
i have all but given up, and have uninstalled the whole suite.
have read on many sites that asus software is notorious for being......well cack, basically.

is ai suite worth persisting with?

any way, i was wondering, as a general rule of thumb, what is the recommended order for installing software?
below is the order i used, should i have done something different?
    1) installed win 7, 64 home prem.
2)installed mobo drivers, off supplied disc.
    3) got wifi working.
    4) installed IS (kaspersky 2012)
    5) updated kaspersky
    6) ran windows update
    7) installed tune-up utilities. and AI suite 2, but cant remember in which order.

i am willing to start again. BUT, i have read that asus software is not all that!!, is it worth it?
    everything else has worked brilliantly.
have loaded a couple of games, music player (foobar), a usb/spdif converter... all ok.
just ai suite 2 which is being a git.
have tried a download version from asus too, just the same.

all i really wnt is to be able to control fans/noise, and monitor temps, when running programs.
    thanks for any advice

have you tried unistalling it, then installing again?

in what way does it fail?

wht mobo do you have mate? click here, http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ - then find ya mobo, click on download, choose ya OS, then click utilities, then download the latest copy of asus suite.

Yep as Tom said. Grab it again from the site.

AI Suite is different for different motherboards. They will all work with each board but will give issues if is incorrect version. Fully remove aisuite and download again like Tom suggested.

Also are your fans PWM fans. So that the AISuite can actually tell the fans to go up or down. Ideally the fans should be PWM if you are controlling the speeds.

PS: I personally think AIsuite is very good. And I have not heard many complaints with it myself once the correct version is installed.

    already done what you suggest.
i am now considering a hardware fan controller.
    mobo is p8z77-v.

i have had various error messages

1)"asus set-up .ini file is not found"
2)"access violationat address 0040B590 in module AI Suite.exe. read of address 00000002"
    3) "server execution failed, prog ID. asus fan control service. fan control manager"

    all mumbo jumbo to me.

all this happens when trying to run fan expert 2.
the rest of AI suite (that i have tried) appeared ok

There must be another underlining issue with your system. AI suite works fine.

If you click start ~ Control panel ~ Administrative tools ~ Services

    Sort by name
    Right click
    ASUS com service
    ASUS HM Com Service
    ASUS system Control Service

    and stop them all.

Go into control panel ~ Progs and features ~ add remove progs
    Remove AI Suite

    Restart machine

    Download Advanced system care Link

Install it and run a deep clean and fix all issues.

    Restart.

    Download and install
    winrar-x64-420.exe

    Download
    AISuite_II.zip

Right click the AISUITE .ZIP file and select extract then point location to desktop and extract.

Go into newly extracted folder on desktop and install AISUITE.

    Install ALL parts.

many thanks for the indepth reply, but unfortunately it did not change anything.

but it has made me think about another question.
i was wondering what program is generally regarded as the best maintenance program?

for the last few years i have been using "tune-up utilities", i now have "advanced system care", i know there is one called "system mechanic"
can more than one of these installed actually create problems?
i also use "spybot" and "windefender" from time to time.

advice/opinions on this would be usefull.
or is there already a thread on this subject?

going back to the "ai suite" issue, i have the feeling that a hardware fan controller would be my best option.
opinions on this would also help me decide.

all i was hoping for from "aisuite2" was to reduce fan noise!
i do not know enough about computers to know whether other features on aisuite would be of benefit to me.

    thanks again
