I am planning to buy a Vortex III laptop with optimus-enabled Intel HD 4000 / GTX 670M. The specs look promising, my only concern is if the on-board GPU (Intel HD 4000) will support the external display under Linux? The HDMI port is most probably wired directly to GeForce and since I do not intend to use the GeForce GPU with Linux I will not be able to use it. I am not sure about the DVI and DisplayPort. Will those work with the Intel GPU under Linux?

Looks like introducing the Optimus technology spawned plenty of discussions and issues for Linux users. It would be so much easier if NVIDIA supported it.
