RIFT (MMORPG) crashed my PC?
Over the past two days, RIFT (MMORPG) has crashed my PC twice. It happened tonight when accepting a resurrection and alt tabbing and it happened yesterday when alt tabbing in/out of RIFT. My music in the background was playing, but my keyboard and I presume my mouse too but I couldn't check as the screen froze. I had to hard restart both times to fix it. Any idea anyway I can fix it? I have ran virus scanners and it is not a virus - I used Malwarbytes, Hitman Pro and Avast to scan.
My specs are:

did you say you were running media player in the background ( for your music to be playing that is) whilst playing a full screen game ? , if so that will probably be why its crashing the pc - i know it can be done but its not a good idea generally

I've always played music in the background of gaming, even back on my old rig with 4GB of RAM it was perfectly fine, he has 8GB and I highly doubt Rift + WMP would use it all.
I'd recommend making sure your Video Drivers are up to date, you'd be surprised how many problems it can cause having out of date ones.

I did not say anything about ram at all - its a conflict in direct x (mainly direct sound) with some games - wouldnt hurt to just try playing without wmp in background to see if the problem goes away.

alt tabbing can also cause a issue with some games.
Maybe try running rift in windowed mode for a while and see hwo that goes.
