Is this a good spec?
Hi, im new to the forums and the world of creating a pc, so after looking around at varous sources i ended up with the following spec. Im hoping it'll be able to play current gen games quite well (E.g skyrim, guild wars 2, phantasy star online 2). So i was just wondering if this was a good spec and if there's anything i can change to keep a good performance but maybe save a few £'s.

Ahh wow, thats great thank you! And thanks for the quick reply! i'll probably get that build :-)

I have been looking at the same graphics card as you and i looked it up and the '2GB AMD RADEON™ HD7870 - DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 Capable' apparently needs/recommended at least 600W power supply? But Ruben suggested 450W...
Ruben if you are out there...?

The built above (from the configurator) requires 358w including a 20% allowance. Also the site indicates a minimum of 450w for the HD 7870:
http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/matrix/132/11/1/
The manufacturer may suggest 500w but where do you get 600w from?

Ok, its just i heard the power supply is one of the main things that can go wrong with a PC, if that goes it can fry other things too and even cause a fire, so im paranoid about it

But where did you find 600w? unless you are planning to add 2 graphics card. PCS will test your components to the max and you are also covered by their warranty, I'd not worry.

i saw it on the AMD website... cant find link sorry... but they recommended 600W
edit: perhaps they were being over-cautious with their recommendation to cover their backs, but it still makes me paranoid
