    Prices On Upgrading?

I'm planning to buy a Vortex III. I was gonna get the 7970 along with a 120gb mSATA SSD and 16GB RAM, but I decided to go fr the 680, but in order to be able to afford it I need to drop the mSATA and go to 8GB RAM.

Just wondering how much it costs to get an mSATA (120GB) if I buy it at a later date?
Also how much to upgrade from 8 (2x4) to 16 (4x4) GB 1600MHz RAM?

Also, for future reference (and other people ) I think it would be great for PCS to have a full list of how much all the items cost to upgrade (and if it's even possible, I'm not sure putting a 680m in an inferno is a good idea :P)

    Thanks!

It is not possible to install a 680M in the Inferno - only the 650M.

Our upgrade system will be launched in the near future and you will be able to see individual upgrade pricing.

It would be nice too if the price differences were shown in the drop down boxes on the configure page.

they are shown for some items but not for all, eg. the processors.

Will you actually be upgrading it for us, or will you simply send us the gpu, cpu etc. and we'll have to fit it ourselves?

sorry to hassle you with questions, but will a GPU upgrade be available for notebooks either as self-install or as collect-and-return? that is of course providing the chassis has compatible GPUs to choose from. i know one user who would like to upgrade his GT630m (in the Genesis IV chassis) in the future to keep up with games.

I've got to ask the OP: What do you need 16GB RAM for?

Forgive, but there are a lot of folks who think they need 16GB but find that they don't.

Also, if you're confident enough to do the upgrade yourself, mSata drives are quite cheap. Most I see are under £100 and that includes 128GB sizes. Only a 256GB one is relatively expensive at around £160. This is from suppliers other than pcspecialist (sorry, pcspecialist!)

I was going to get one as an after-market upgrade, but realised they are not actually usable as an extra drive.

GPU upgrades will only be available for the Vortex and SkyFire series - all other models use soldered down GPUs.

We will offer two upgrade choices - one collect and return option and one option just to dispatch the components to you.

Sounds great what prices are we looking at if it's a collect/return compared to you sending it? And any idea on the price of 8GB 1600Mhz RAM?

No pricing on the memory yet. The pricing for the collect and return service has not yet been confirmed, although we plan to offer a standard collect and return service, and also a service with OS installation.

What price do you think is reasonable for collection, the upgrade service, testing and re-delivery?
