    New PC and new problems...

I got my new PC today and after an insane amount of mucking around I eventually got everything working. My only problem is that i get this message constantly on my little speaker next to my clock "No speakers or headphones plugged in". I don't have a sound card... just what came with the machine. Whenever I click on the oh so wonderful troubleshooter I get this advice "Both windows audio and Windows audio end point builder services must be running for audio to work correctly and atleast one of these devices is not working".

To be frank... I know nothing about computers.... anyone got any advice?

In control panel click on Administrative Tools/Services,
make sure both windows audio and Windows audio end point builder services
are set to automatic.Right click on the services/properties/under "general"tab,at "startup type" select"automatic"/apply.

I'm not sure on the solution and someone with better knowledge may have a more intelligent answer but the first thing to check is whether or not Windows is actually using the correct sound output from your system.

    Try this:
    1. Go to Start and click on control Panel.
    2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.
    3. In the new windows click on the tab “Playback" and there should be a list of devices that the PC recognises.
    4. If you are having issues with one of the output methods (you haven't mentioned if your PC actually does play sound?) right click on the other output option and then click ,'set as default'.

This may not be the solution but is a quick way to check to make sure that Windows is recognising the correct sound device. Other than that it could be a driver issue.

Ok, I checked the Windows Audio and End point builder services and they are both set to automatic. My computer is playing sound but only through my monitor. It doesn't register my speakers... The only thing it does register is my monitor.
This is becoming more trouble than it was worth, of all the things to go wrong my speakers are the problem. I would have never guessed that this would be my problem.

Not only that... now my monitor won't even go full screen. There is a black band running about an inch around my screen... I know I must seem like an idiot to some of you people and for that I can only apologize.

    Thanks for the replies though.

Are you using an hdmi cable for the monitor? The issue with the monitor not showing full screen just started?

You may need to adjust scaling options,if you have an AMD graphics card open catalyst control center(it may be called amd vision engine control)select "my digital flat panels"then "scaling options"then use the slider to fill the screen. If it's an nvidia card the settings will be different.

Yeah, I am using a HDMI. Well, originally it wouldn't even start up with the HDMI cable so I was just using a VGA but I removed that and tried it again tonight and the HDMI worked. Now, I just need to figure out the speaker situation.

Have you checked that the audio cable is plugged into the mobo securely?
