    Vortex III Spec

Okay so, I am looking into getting a new laptop now too, possibly as mine seems to be on its way out unfortnately. I want it for the odd bit of gaming (Neverwinter nights is likely to be the most played game on it so it doesn't need an amazing GPU for gaming but other games may be played too), ideally it would be able to handle Photoshop easily. My budget for this will be £1300 Max.

Problems with my current Laptop are:

I have just today experienced a BSOD.
Typing is sometimes unsuccessful, I.E - I can type something and it will miss letters out, quite often.
Typing sometimes doubles up on letter, I.E - I can type something and it will sometimes come out like this - Heello, wwhat etc..
The Laptop was also previously owned by someone before me and even someone before them, so no idea how old it is. But I did have to fork out for screen repairs unfortunately

I was looking at the Vortex III 17", the backlit keyboard is very appealing to me.

I might add that I wll be storing many photo's from a high MP camera will be stored on it and it will possibly be used for college, if/when decide to go.

    Came up with:

If your not doing much gaming, or gaming on very high ultra i suggest you drop to the optimus series, save much money on the laptop, and u wont notice much difference with your current gaming neeeds, and u could save that extra money or spend on better components. I have the 17" and i can play bf3 on mosty high/medium and get 30-40 fps @ 786p, so it would be fine for most games on high, and even some on 1080p and high.

I would get a fast ssd, preferably the intel 520 series as your primary hard drive for ur os, and a few games, then a secondary large hard drive for storage, have a look at this spec, comes under budget which u can improve e.g: bigger capacity battery or keep the costs low.

I seriously wouldent bother with getting the vortex just for the backlit keyboard, even i at first would have liked a backlit keyboard, but i was in no way willing to spend a few hundred more £ for it, and i felt i could do without it without much inconvenience.
Also the power supply of the vortex is a beast, literally, , im sure someone can post a picture of it next to the laptop, its like 1/3 the size and the laptop is quite heavy also, so if you dont really need the superior gpu, downgrade, but if u want to max out most games, stay with vortex

Thanks! That seems like a nice setup for a decent drop in price too. +Rep
