    Optimus III 17.3'' Chassis no longer stocked?

    Hello all, im new to the forums and this is my first time posting so forgive me if I stray a bit of protocall. So i have ordered an Optimus III 17.3'' laptop from PC Specialist and I am currently on my 9th working day and I am still in pre-production. I sent an email to PCS asking if there was a problem and they replied with this:

    We are currently processing your order but unfortunately we awaiting stock of the following items:

    Clevo W170ER (1GB GT-650M): - Unfortunately the chassis you have selected has gone end of life, therefore we can no longer procure stock of this item.

    Taking this into account, we have decided as a good will gesture to upgrade all orders from this chassis to the next model up from the manufacturer, the Clevo W370ET;

    This model includes many upgrades such as the 2gb GTX660m instead of the 1gb GTX650m and an aftermarket Onkyo speaker system.

    If you are happy with this upgrade you do not need to call us, the change will be made for you automatically.

    So I was just wondering, has anyone else who has ordered this laptop received an email like this? And does anyone know if PCS has the new Chassis in stock or are they waiting for them? I need the laptop before I return to college as I would like to get familiarized with it first, but that doesn't seem like its going to happen anymore. If anyone could shed some light on this issue I would be very grateful.

    If this is true I hope it is the same for the Optimus 3 15.6" model as then hopefully they will do the same free upgrade for me, I don't mind waiting that little extra if it is

    I will be gutted if it is not true for the 15.6" model as I could have go this free upgrade if I spent £5 extra on a 17.3" model

    I shall give them and e-mail soon inquiring about if this rains true for the 15.6" as well and will get back to you with their response

    My chassis is still in life they did not say anything about yours sorry.

    Damn I wished I had spent £5 extra on the 17.3" if this is true @(

    I'm sorry to hear that your'e not getting the upgrade Dexterous. I rang PCS up and they said that they received the new chassis Tuesday and that I should get my laptop Thursday or Friday. Its still in pre-production but im really hoping they keep their promise and I get it Friday. I hope your order doesn't take as long as mine has!

    they told me the same. The live support ignored me. But the guy I talked on the phone was great.

    BUT if you ask me, I could bet my ass off that I will get the computer next week. It is just how business works.
    Yes the free upgrade is great,but come on... Waiting almost a month for a laptop...

    14 days preproduction. Anyone got 15-16 ?

    Im currently on 15th working day and im still at pre-production. I completely agree with you, the wait has been horrible and the lack of communication has made it worse. I didn't even know about the upgrade until I emailed them! I am wondering if they ever actually planned on telling me that I would be getting a different laptop than I ordered. I was hoping to get it by Friday so I would have the weekend to set it up and personalize but that clearly isn't happening. Looking for a Monday delivery now but i'm not getting my hopes up.

    When i phoned them they told me that it will be shipped on friday or sooner. YEAH RIGHT

    Currently on working day 16 and still in Pre-production. Customer service has been pretty good for me but have been slightly worried at how the delivery date estimated for my laptop has been pushed back and back.
    Has anyone who ordered this model got past pre-production since the change to the chassis?

    Mine says building for friday and today. I guess the consultants overestimated their power when they said that it will be shipped.

    I'm also on 16th working day in pre production. Customer service has been great for me too (apart from one unaswered email) but not unlike yourself, my main worry is the constant changing of the delivery date. The annoying thing about the situation is that I was GUARANTEED a Thurday or Friday delivery AT THE LATEST. This has now changed to delivry should be expected early to mid next week (Monday to Wednesday I guess?). If my order hasn't entered building by Tuesday I am honestly considering cancelling my order and just going to a high street store. The part that has enfuriated me the most is the complete lack of any updates from PCS. I even had to contact them to find out that i wasn't even going to get the laptop i had ordered! If i had had some sort of update email from them, say every 3 days i would be perfectly fine with waiting it out but the lack of communication has just fueled my annoyance even further.
