    Hi

I need a gaming PC that can handle games such as shogun 2 total war and the new Rome 2 total war very fast without any lagging. I will also use the pc for just word documents and internet browsing. I'm not an expert on computers at all and wanted to know if this spec is okay for what I need it for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi can you post your max budget for us so we can come up with some more suitable suggestions for you as there are a few things on there that are more than what you need and some others that are not going to give you much performance.

    Hi fear

I've got a budget of about £1000. I wouldn't mind paying more if it meant I got a lot better performance.

    Thanks for your help

That is a good spec vanthus has posted above but if you go for that i would suggest spending the little bit extra on a branded 650W Corsair PSU as the are more efficient and more reliable. I have another suggestion below you can have a look at main difference's between the 2 specs are this has a slightly slower CPU but you won't notice with the uses you have posted in your OP also the motherboard i have dropped down because the main benefit of the LX is the ability to Sli 2 nvidia GPU's it just depends what upgrade options you want to have but depending on the GPU seleced you may need a higher PSU to cover this and lastly i have gone with the GTX660Ti which is more powerful for your games and will give you better performance for longer.

The spec Vanthus suggested would be ideal.

If you can afford to go over budget a little then there is a stronger setup to consider below.

Both setups have solid processors for your total war games, but Rome 2 is a long way off and you are guaranteed to be getting better frames then and now with the following:

    Case
PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE

    Processor (CPU)
    Intel® Core™i5 Quad Core Processor i5-3570 (3.4GHz) 6MB Cache

The P8Z77-V LX does not support SLI, if you want to add another graphics card in the future you will need the P8Z77-V motherboard and a 750W power supply.

You can check the wattage requirements in the configurator, put 2 graphics cards in with a 300W powersupply and click proceed. The configurator will tell you how much you will need. It won't let you buy anything that isn't compatible.

The reason I chose the P8Z77-V LX is because it supports crossfire (not SLI),and along with the 600W PSU would allow adding another 7870 in future.

Wouldnt you need at least a 700 or 800 for dual GPUS?

To crossfire HD 7870 600w is sufficient.
