What are you going to be using the PC for?
And what's your budget, a few people may be able to suggest some specs for you.

You chosen high MHz RAM, but the rest of your spec doesn't really suggest you'll be overclocking (at which point you might as well have the 1333MHz RAM and you wouldn't notice the difference)

I'd like to do some gaming with it, but will mostly be for general internet and the like. I won't be overclocking and as for budget I could probably look at another £10 bringing the total to £890 maybe £900.

ooh! I like the look of all those!

Usually I've gone for Intel CPU's and NVIDIA cards before, my current being a GeForce 6200 LE, which is no good to man nor beast! I've never used AMD, but it looked like I could get a system that will play the latest games on my £900 budget. I'm not too worried about having all the dials in a game set to 11 as my PC gaming experience has been limited and I'm used to having to switch off shadows and effects etc!

I've got no idea really about what sort of performance to expect from these set ups. Can anyone give me a rough Idea? Also I'd like some advice on Intel Vs AMD, am I better off going for the best AMD CPU I can afford or an Intel? Same with the GPU's! I've read reviews online, but I have no real world experience with them.

An i5 is a better CPU than the FX-4100, for games that are more processor bound an i5 system should outperform the FX-4100. You could have a look at this link:

What games are you planning to play? The HD 7870 will allow you to play Battlefield 3 at high settings.

Thats a great link rubensolo! I can see from that the i5 is a lot better than the FX-4100! Thanks for that!

Wow that sounds great! I'm looking at the next Sim City game, maybe GTA V.
