800£ - 850£ PC Desktop for Revit 2011
Hi there...
I am going to need a desktop PC that will run smoothly 3D CAD modelling on softwares such as : 3dMax / Autocad Revit 2011....
The recommendations for AutoCad Revit 2011 are :
Microsoft® Windows® 7 64-bit Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium; Microsoft® Windows Vista® 64-bit (SP2 or later) Enterprise, Ultimate, Business, or Home Premium; or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 edition (SP2 or later).*
Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon™ dual core, 3.0 GHz (or higher) with SSE2 technology for Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit or Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit (SP2 or later). Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon dual core, 1.6 GHz (or higher) with SSE2 technology for Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 edition (SP2 or later)
3 GB RAM
5 GB free disk space
1,280 x 1,024 monitor with true color
Display adapter capable of 24-bit color for basic graphics; 256 MB DirectX® 9-capable graphics card with Shader Model 3 for advanced graphics. Find out more about recommended graphics hardware.
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7.0 (or later)
Microsoft Mouse-compliant pointing device
Download or installation from DVD
Internet connectivity for license registration
Performance Recommendations
Microsoft® Windows® 7 64-bit Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium
Quad Core Intel® Xeon® Processor (2.50 GHz, 2X6M L2, 1333) or equivalent AMD processor
8 GB RAM (or more)
1,280 x 1,024 monitor with true color
1 GB (or more) DirectX® 9-capable graphics card with Shader Model 3. Find out more about recommended graphics hardware
Ideally I would want 16 GB RAM --
But I'm not sure what Revit suggests I have for a " capable graphic card with Shader Model 3 " -- I don't know what that means...
And when it comes to cooling fans / processor fans / computer case -- I have absolutely no idea what to use.... Ideally I would want something that will keep everything on a low temperature
( I had a desktop configured by a different company and it got almost fried )
Another quick question.... not sure where to ask it...
BUT if I in the end decide to get my PC from PCspecialist -- will the PC arrived built with windows 7 installed ? -- so the only thing for me to do just connect to the socket ?
I don't know how to call them... but I'm in need of a wifi -- that will allow me to connect to internet wireless ... ( my router is one floor below me and it will be quite difficult to connect to it via cables and such ) --
Looking forward for your wisdom .... ( If more than one options comes along I will happily welcome it )

I don't want to give you any advice on the PC itself, because I've only just got to grips with gaming PC's.
But as for your wireless, you can either choose the "wireless card" option for your PC. OR you can get a set of home plugs, they use your homes electrical wiring to pass the internet through. I just bought a pair last week and I would recommend them over a wireless card, especially for a stationary PC.
This is just a quick example of how they work

As long as you order it with Win7 yes it will come with it installed for you, the only things you will have to do will be to activate it using the CD key for Win7 (which will be on a sticky label on the back of your PC) and do a few bits like name your PC etc.

This should be ideal for your needs. I chose the i7 processor because it has hyper-threading and your work could probably make use of it and the GPU should be powerful enough to do anything you throw at it

Thank you for your trouble...
There's only a few questions I have...
1) Isn't it a danger that because the case is a bit cheap ( and it doesn't look like it has a good air flow ) for a computer this strong ?
2) The CPU cooler -- isn't that a bit cheap as well? Is there a danger that it might not be fit for the i7 ?
3) Is it a better idea to lower the 16GB to 8GB ( I know I said I preferred 16 GB ) and invest it in the Case / cooler ?
4) What case would you / anyone recommend ? Ideally I would want a case that will keep itself cool... and it will be easy to add things to it ( Like perhaps an extra graphic card in the future ) and things like this....
If the above sounds stupid, just let me know and explain :P
Thank you all-- you've been very prompt !
Looking forward for answers

Not stupid really,I would upgrade the the case, your choice really, and upgrade the cooler to the triple copper heatpipe and downgrade ram to 8GB.If you want to add another GPU in SLI in future you will need to upgrade the motherboard to the P8Z77-V and upgrade the PSU to something like the 650W.
This would put you over budget though.
