    Can't burn file to DVD

My Vortex i7 won't burn files to a DVD. Using Windows own software and I get an message saying I'm burning too fast for the DVD I have in, I was burning at x2 speed and the DVD was a Maxell DVD-R, I have burned 100's of these at x8 on my 10 years old PC!

Mnaged to burn the files on the office PC, 10 months old and at x16 speed using the same DVD's.

I suspect the DVD drive aint writing...

    Any ideas?

I'm going to organise a RMA.

I get a power calibration error when using ImgBurn or Nero.

I have also noticed I haven't got Cyberlink software on my machine too.

Is it a case of swapping the DVD drive or the motherbaord?

You could try Nero's Info Tool - http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero...utilities.html - it may give you some clues.

You say cyberlink isn't installed,do you mean by this you have a bluray drive,If so install software disc that you should have supplied, super multi blue or something like that, this will install cyberlink, also it might install some software to solve your problem, but that's a long shot.

Most obvious thing to try is a different brand of disk. Optical drives can be a bit funny sometimes.

I think they may have had a bad batch of Optiarc (Sony) drives as I've just replaced mine which kept having burning errors. Would read fine but kept messing up when burning despite updating firmware etc Now got a Phillips Liteon drive in and it *appears* to work fine. Its quiter too when in use which is nice No problems with it yet.
Only trouble you've got is its in a laptop not a desktop. Quite a bit more tricky to replace :S
