Having looked around t' net, it seems that "resealed" can mean a couple of different things. It may be that the box was damaged or the original tape split so DHL reseal it with their own tape, it may mean that the a package was oversized and they repackaged it (usually to split multiple cartons taped together) or there's a third reason which I think is more likely in your case...

As it shows as being resealed twice, I suspect that it was transported by a different courier for part of the journey - if, for example, you live somewhere isolated or there are just a couple of items to go to your local depot, DHL may have an agreement with another courier so that they can effectively sub-contract part of the journey to avoid sending a van with just one parcel on-board - (the same works the other way - DHL may carry parcels for another courier) - that's going to be more common with fuel prices going through the roof. In such a case, DHL would check the contents then "reseal" the carton with their own tape and will check it again on receipt at their depot - to ensure that they get back exactly what they handed over.

I would, however, take LFIPicard's advice and check that carton whilst the driver is there - or at least mark the delivery note that you've only accepted it unchecked rather than simply signing it and remember - worse case scenario, it's insured.

Thanks LFFPicard, I will take your advice.

In my experience, courier drivers don't like to wait so if the box looks knocked about or otherwise damaged, I will sign the receipt as 'unchecked' as you advise.

    Thanks again

Thanks pengipete for your overview and advice.

You are correct, DHL's tracker does show 'Re Routed to another Courier' on 8th April. I will sign as 'unchecked' anway, just to be safe.

    Thanks again

    The computer has now arrived!

The box didn't show any obvious sign of damage, but I signed 'unchecked' anyway. The contents look OK too but obviously I need to set it up and check.

Thanks everyone for your useful comments and support. I hope that, when appropriate, I too can help others on the forum.
