Need help to get my PC playing cda audio disks!

My pc plays purchased audio CDs with no problems but it refuses to play the audio disks which we record using a Pioneer cd recorder. The cda info tracks show but I am unable to rip them to a normal audio format which I can use for other purposes.

The same cd however plays okay on all our other cd players so can anyone give me some advice about how to get the audio tracks off the disk in a usable format please?

Strangely, my previous pc was almost 10 years old but it played these cds with no problems!

BTW my disk drive is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7260S ATA device.

    Thanks
    PhilipK

Try VLC media player,to see if they play,
failing that you may have to convert the CDA files you have to WAV/MP3 etc.
    before windows can recognize them.
For this you will need audio convertion software,
I dont no if any of the free programs would do it,
you could try audacity(it does convert as well)or try this,

Thanks for the suggestions guys, will try them when I get a chance.
What I don't understand is: how come my old pc played these cda disks but my modern setup doesn't.
Anyway, maybe your suggestions will sort the problem out.
    Thanks again

For some reason I don't know of,newer optical drives can be a bit choosy,
have you tried disabling auto play for audio cds,
    control panel/Auto play.

Your old computer might have had the required codec to play the files. The site below says it has codecs to allow playing .cda files
