SLI or dedicate a card to PhysX? :o

well as it goes i have dual GTX 480's in my pc, currently got them setup in SLI but i was wondering if i should set the second card dedicated to PhysX? Not sure on the difference in performance so i was wondering if anybody could offer me some advice & knowledge on the matter?!

    thanks in advance!

Nop, in nvid control panel set either of them to 'do' physx, but not only physx, infact if in sli it probs shows both together, anyway will b way better than dedicating

    *Ahem*

    http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums...GPU-to-Physics

I dedicated a GPU to physics and ran some tests to clear this up. If you running a high end Nvidia card then i did not see any benefit, in fact it hurt my systems performance.

The physx component of my 480 is independant to the rest of the card and was better than in the dedicated card i used.

If you have a 480 purely dedicated to Physx and not in SLI you will lose out on the performance of SLI.

The only concievable scenario where a card dedicated to Physx would be a good thing is if your main GPU was ATI.
I dont work for PCS anymore, fix it yourself!

thanks for the quick responses, wasnt aware of that thread Gorman thankyou, ive currently got my cards setup in SLI without dedicating a card to PhysX so i guess i'll just leave them how they are then

Yes, but I hope that in your Nvidia Control Panel, you have the GPUs set to do Physx and not CPU. Check that.
