    How safe is this???

    Hello

My spec recommends I get the 1200 PSU because the max voltage is 1046W/1051W, I did this and it was compatible, but now I've had a task update saying it won't fit in the case, I talked to a rep online via chat and they said a Corsair 850W will be fine and shouldn't cause any problems due to the 20% freedom they give it.

Taking away the 20% leaves 836 voltage needed, is this going to be fine for a Corsair 850W?, I'm not into upgrading all that much and won't need to for several years to come.

specs looks good but if this is all for gaming, i wouldnt really recommend an overclocked pc for it, especially if you're sporting in two 6970s which would be more than ample for gaming. Not sure if the 850w psu is fine or not but it should be as ive seen people run sli 580s on an 850w psu and they are pretty more power hungry than two 6970s im sure but i do recommend the 1050w psu for better breathing room because if its 836w, thats pretty much near full and the 1050 is a quality mod psu which i would recommend, especially if youre going for 2 hot gpus. the mod psu should free up clutter and allow space for better airflow.

Also, do you really need two optical drives? a 12x blu ray rom drive will do everything you need apart from writing/creating blu ray discs which isnt a cheap process unless you want to then you can just go for the blu ray writer. You can use the second hdd as your media resource along with storage

Ha I did have the 1050W but non of the pro series fit into the case, so I had to settle for the downgrade of a 850W :/

I do want it for gaming but I also do a Games Programming course, which includes video editing a lil bit as well as more tasking operations my Overclocked PC could be useful for and thanks for the feedback.

Could you not find a case where it would all fit the higher power supply about the same price?
Cos for me that would be the more sensible option (I am a really quite pessimistic person so like that extra bit of safety)

So the reason why pcs should stock the silverstone FT02 and the RV02-E case along with a nice 850w mod psu.

You still should get real good cooling however from the case.

Oh, fair do I think the spec speaks enough power on its own without an overclock in my view.

Well It's been more than 4 weeks and 16 working days until today when it was placed into the "In building" stage, when creating it I had everything planned ofc and the 1050/1200W were compatible with the case.

Today when it changed status I got a task saying that they could not fit in the PSU, changing a case at that stage after a lot of research and altering it to another case which could pose more compatibly issues wasn't much of an option so It was recommended I just altered the PSU.

    Thanks for feedback

I would not like to run 2xHD6970's on a 850W PSU i would not even do that with 2xGTX580's and they are less power hungry.

not sure but normally psu's over or reaching 1000w tends to be a bit beefy in size. as for quality im not sure but ive seen someone on the forum had a pic up long ago and it was a nice shiney blue one which looked real quality made with an 80 plus energy efficiency, if i remembered correctly.
