will do next time, but it sohuld have really had a warning for someting that deleted my files instantly after pressing it

for some reason, firefox is now in black and white :/ everything else is in colour.. will try a reboot of it, and who said only windows puts programs unresponsive, ive had it about 10 times in the past few minutes

If you have nowhere to back up your best data, then keep in mind that various on line facilities such as Ubuntu One, Spideroak, Dropbox (and there are more I am sure) usually offer a free account with maybe 5GB free storage each. So although a bit inconvenient, and maybe slow to upload it (?) at least ther are a few places to temp store some of your stuff. Good luck.

should be getting my computer soon with my 750GB HDD, so should be able to keep 2 copies of the majority of my files, most certainly the important ones, i completely forgot that i luckily put some of the most important photos onto my memory stick

god dammit even though im running it under root, i have to somehow unlock the folders once back on the harddisk before i can do anything

good news, my external HDD has just appeared with all the files on it and is working fine, very strange, lucky i didnt begin to create a new partition

Get them backed up on a DVD/CD meanwhile, USB stick, online, just anything .. unless you are happy to delete them straight away... cause sooner or later it will happen.

It is beyond my understanding how anyone can have "important" files only on one drive, no backup at all.... even Kazakhstan have some sort of backup in place, you should too

its not really convenient to put them on another HDD (my main photos are on both drives now) but i will be when i get my computer, i dont see the point in getting a second external, seeing as it just sits there, it cant really break can it? i dont have it plugged in 99% of the time, ill take the risk until i get my new computer
