    New Games pc

    Hello All

I bought my last pcspecialist machine about 4 years ago and it's still fine; however, I thinks it's going to really start to struggle over the next year and I was thinking of a new machine. Ideally, I want something that will last another 4 years technology wise before I need to buy again. Could anyone offer and advice as to what I need to spend and what sort of spec I'm looking at. Obviously, cheaper is better but only as long as it's fit for purpose.

    Thanks

    Cassick

If you let people know your max budget and what you want to use it for, then that'd help them

I know that you said games, but are they intensive games, not intensive, do you do a lot of multitasking etc?

What sort of games will be looking at playing on it?
Also, you say cheaper is better, but any idea on an absolute top budget?

It appears I have been ninja'd

Well, at the moment Im thinking of around 800-900. I enjoy the battlefield series and will certainly want to run BF3 and most other FPS games (I'm an unlock addict). In the past I've played City of Heroes so games like that will always be a possibility...so i want a machine that won't chug over the next few years as demands increase.

    Thanks

    The case

Another question. I've never really given a great deal of thought to the case and cooling in the past, is there a recommended case for gaming? When I say gaming I mean something like BF3 for 3/4 hour sessions--I imagine that isn'tconsidered extreme but maybe a better than average case with good cooling would be advisable. What do you think?

    Thanks

You should consider this spec, it should last you a long, long while and with a 1050W PSU you have room to add another GTX 580 in the future for more graphics power. I know it's over your budget but if you want it too last you as long as possible this is it...you could even get an Intel CPU but that would add more on the price. To drop the price you could go for a 6970 GPU, which is also an excellent top end card. If you really just cannot afford this then drop to a GTX 570/6950 and add another later on.

Agree with the above build, although bringing it more into budget you could go for the GTX 570. Still an awesome card and outperforms a single 580 in SLi. The case is a little extreme if you're working to a budget. Would recommend the CM690 Mk II (course I would) to save a few quid. Maybe a 750 or 850w power supply too. I doubt you'd need more than that running 2 570's in SLi anyway.
