Problems with 52 in 1 Card Reader

I've got an MMC+ Plus Kingston 1GB Memory card which was in my mobile phone and i've taken it out and put the card in the slot of the 52 in 1 memory card reader of my new PC from PC Specialist, but it doesn't seem to recgnise the card.
On the card reader there is a USB 2.0 port and I plugged in a USB device and it was recognised straight away and the 2 red lights on the card reader are constantly lit.

Any Ideas?

Am I doing something wrong?

I had this prob in my old pc, once I got my new pc I opted for no memory card reader and just went with usb3 and plug camera / mobile direct to pc. It comes up mass storage device so no different than plugging in a memory card.

Go to device manager, if theres four devives (lettered drives) that have exclamation marks next to them, then u have same problem as another user, youll need to call tech support from there.

i did have a look in device manager last night but i couldn't see the card reader listed as a device. However when i plugged a web cam in the usb port on the card reader, i looked again at device manager and saw a folder appear called other devices and the web cam showed up there, the folder disappeared soon as i unplugged the web cam. But putting a card in the reader it doesn't show anything

They should just show up as normal drive letters I believe, even when they dont have cards in them.
Maybe a cable has come loose.

Yes there will be 4 drive letters. Usb port is likely to work seperate from the readers, reader could be faulty.

Hmmmm....

I guess it's either faulty or not plugged in properly, i've not had a pc with an internal card reader before so i didn't realise it had it's own drive letter

I'll have to ring technical support at the weekend unless someone else has any suggestions.

Thanks

UPDATE

I rang Technical support this morning and being instructed to go into Device Manager / Disk Drives the Card Reader isn't listed, so I was told to unplug the cable from the motherboard which is quite fiddly and reseat it and then upon turning the pc back on the OS should recognise the card reader and install the drivers.

When I switched the PC back on nothing happened and the card reader is still not showing in the device manager so I rang back and technical support raised a RMA.

A couple of questions tho

1. The plug that goes into internal USB header on the motherboard which has two rows of pins. One row contains five pins and the second row contains four pins. Is it possible the plug is in the wrong way round or does it only seat in the USB header when its in the right way round?

2. Now i've got the task of removing the Card Reader how do i do this? When undoing the screws does the card reader push outwards and come out the front of the case?

I've not opened the case to a pc before today so its unchartered waters for me removing anything from it.

It comes out into teh inside of teh case usually.

No doesnt matter which way round.

Not strictly true...:p

1. The card reader can only plug in one way round, and it's important this is noted because plugging it in the other way round can fry the USB header. However, the card reader comes as one block with a pin blanked out, therefore making it difficult/impossible to plug it in the wrong way round.

2. Normally it comes out the front, however I don't think it makes a big difference.

Yeah tis what I was trying to say but I never actually typed it down lol, they have 9 actual holes in the little plastic plug dont they? So, there is only one way you can push it in anyway
