Ding Dong

Hi you Tech guy's,

My wife's laptop has suddenly developed a fault which has got me caught. A few days ago while using it a ding dong, ding dong sound arrived and at the same time two small icons at top left were flashing. These two being the Caps Lock and Num Lock indicators, in the short time that it took me to wonder what was happening the computer switched itself off. This will happen now every time you switch on and only after about five/ten minutes after switching on. There is no possibility of over heating because the laptop is used on a stand with fans circulating air.
Pcspecialist require me to return it to them but I just wondered if any of you had any idea's.

Even if the laptop is elevated it could overheat due to other issues. Have you checked the temperatures with speccy?

No I have not, but I am trying it of late where it is only running for a max of ten minutes, hardly time to get warm I would have thought???? It resides in its case in the meantime....

Even after 10 minutes the CPU or other components could overheat if there is a problem with the cooling. For example, if the cpu cooler is not making contact with the cpu. This could even happen with your good cooling setup.
