Windows Won't Activate

CaseLmfao

I bought this PC a couple of months ago for like 800£ and when I started it everything was working but after a week or so I started seeing the ''Activate Windows Go to Settings to activate Windows'' I went to settings and it said ''We can't activate windows on this device at the moment. You can try activating later , or go to the store to buy a genuine Windows, Error code: 0xC004F025'' Can someone help? I need to do a powerpoint and I can't if I don't activate the Windows. I really don't want to spend 119.99£ on a Windows 10 thing.

Is this a PCSpecialist PC?

Can you post your full specs?

The activation key lives, digitally, inside the motherboard.

If you bought the system from PCS with a licence of Windows, that's where it is. It's not like the old days where you had a 25 letter/digit key to type in.

When you bought the PC from PC Specialist, did you buy it with a Windows licence provided by PCS? Not the test version of Windows they ship the PC with... did you buy the system with an actual licence?

(if you go into your main PC Specialist account you can copy and paste your full spec from there, which would really help people who are trying to help you)

It take that to mean you bought it second-hand from someone? I strongly suspect that what's happened here is that the original owner associated the digital license for Windows with their Microsoft userid and transferred that license to whatever new PC they bought (which means they kept the Windows license). That is all perfectly legal but it meant that this laptop then had no legal copy of Windows on it and that's why the Microsoft activation servers won't activate it.

If that is what happened (the original owner kept the Windows license) then you have only two potential courses of action....

1. Ask the original owner for the Windows license back - if they sold the laptop to you as a 'Windows laptop' then they should not have kept the licence.
2. Pay £119.99 for a new Windows license.

If that is indeed the case, Option 3) is to install Linux (e.g. Ubuntu) onto the system and use the powerpoint equivalent software there in Libre Office or Open Office.

It lets you save as .ppt, or export to PDF, or other options, so the files work fine on any Windows PC too.
