Hi @HR07 I hope you don't mind but I've edited your post so its not simply a wall of text.

What monitor are you going to be using with the PC?

If you can include the link to reconfigure the above here that would be helpful.

He claims that a Ryzen 3 3300X is 'trash', not knowing much about computers I cant tell him why exactly having a better CPU and lower RAM and a 'worse' motherboard is a waste of money for 1080p gaming but he won't budge. In other words how do I tell him that his first build isn't as good for straight 1080p gaming than the second build.

He is the type of person who doesn't know much (if anything) about computers and judges everything off of numbers e.g. ryzen 3 is automatically worse than ryzen 5 etc.

In a perfect world we would spec a 3600x but the budget is a limiting factor.

The main gaming load will be on the gpu though and not the cpu, so even if you had the 3600x you’d still be limited by the monitor at 144fps so it would be exactly the same experience.

Well a 3600x could convince him as it sounds better and is better than the current 3300x quad core so I'll tell him. He also knows a £30 discount code and doesn't mind spending >£100 more than £900 for a few upgrades.

You’ll want a 550w PSU as an absolute minimum. 450 is too restrictive and won’t allow any upgrades.

With a gaming desktop, you’re factoring in the build over 7 to 10 years if you’re doing it properly, so you’ll want the extra headroom for gpu upgrades down the line.

You haven’t listed what case?

Other than that it’s good.
