Not sure about buying

After deciding what build I should go for, with some help, I decided to double check review sites to make sure before I buy. On every review site except trustpilot and reseller ratings pcspecialist have a one or two star rating and almost every single review is about poor customer service or broken pc's after shipping. Although this may be me looking too far into this almost every single five-star review is by an account created in the month of the review, with that being it's only review. I would simply like some reassurance before thinking about buying from this company.

I've bought a desktop & laptop from PCS, with no problem, I think a lot of those negative reviews are folk who just can't accept we're in the middle of a global pandemic which causes all sorts of problems

What's your concern in particular.

I received my PC this month and has been fantastic and if you unsure about anything the guys on here will help you out.

Don't forget they're shipping out thousands of PCs so by law of averages there will be the old problem but going by peoples experience on here PCS has resolved without issue.

Do bare in mind at the moment that some PC parts are very hard to come across for everyone due to the current situation which is out of PCS's control

I'd recommend that you post your potential build on here first before purchasing and people on here will make sure you're getting the best for your budget.

Mainly not being able to either return or get a refund on a faulty pc, which is a common theme amongst these reviews

Hi Quest_ionable - I am soon to receive the 4th PC system from PCS- with purchases spread over the last 4-5 years.

I've been very happy with all of the purchases made and everyone has been robust. For the record I've never left one review on any site regards my PCS experience, perhaps I should?

As a non PCS mod, employee etc... I would happily recommend them to you should a new PC be in the making. Cheers

*Edit* due you to your last comment, I've also never need to return a system to PCS.

I cant speak for those presently experiencing issues, not knowing their specific problems. I can say, that I have recently ordered my fourth system from pcs, and this purely due to my own experience with them. I have always found them to be very supportive and professional, and have suffered only one component failure in that time.(dealt with very swiftly at the time).

These are extraordinary times, and feel some issues may have arisen because of this. Personally, I take reviews, good or bad, with a large pince of salt.

@Quest_ionable

I can only speak from experience whenever i've emailed them they been helpful and even taken feedback on board. People's comments on here but whenever there has been a fault on here with a PC during warranty which the guys on here can't fix. PCS have always resolved it the best they can and creating an RMA is straightforward.

A user on here recently had a PC which the case got damaged during transit (out of PCS's control) and within a few days they managed to get them a replacement glass panel for the case which had broken

Either for myself or friends/relatives have bought eight laptops and a desk top and been happy with the products and the service.

I am suspect of most online review sites as they rarely, if ever, require any sort of proof the reviewer had bought from or dealt with the company they are reviewing. There are plenty of reviews on here worth looking at.

Those reviews stating they haven't been able to return or refund a faulty PC either didn't know the process to do so, or just haven't been willing to send the PC back for inspection before being refunded. I think some people buy on finance not realising how much of a commitment that can be and then want to back out after a few months but without an actual reason for doing so other than they've changed their minds.

Just ask someone like @barlew who had a particularly unfortunate experience with a TongFang chassis, the Vyper III which has a pretty serious voltage issue that the manufacturer couldn't correct. He and several others were fully refunded even though they'd bought the laptop about 6 months previous to the issue being found to be unfixeable.

I myself bought a custom laptop from them in 2014 which I still use daily and have never had an issue with.

Do bear in mind that none of the 'review' sites gives an accurate cross section of the population buying that product or service, they are all massively skewed towards the negative.

A very large proportion of those customers who receive a less than perfect product or service will vent their frustration and anger by leaving a negative review. It's their way of getting their own back rather than providing some constructive criticism. That's understandable, it's human nature.

Very few of the people who are completely happy with the product or service they receive ever bother leaving a review. They got exactly what they expected and they're happy to just keep using their PC/laptop. Those few who do leave a very positive (five-star) review are possibly only responding at all because they've been offered a free gift for doing so. Many companies offer incentives for positive reviews - so even these have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

My guess is that the Pareto Principle applies and that 80% of happy customers never bother posting on a review site at all. On the other hand, 80% of unhappy customers will post a negative review. The result is that you never see an accurate picture. Incidentally, the same thing is true on here too - we get all the complaints and very few completely happy postings. :)

Hey @Quest_ionable, so I'm currently on my first purchase with PCS (currently in pre-production). The reason as to why I went with PCS is my older brother has bought several PC's and his first one was extremely poorly made so the next time he purchased one he came to PCS. He's not looked back since, so when I wanted to buy my first PC, the first thing he did was recommend me straight to here! I've only had to contact PCS once, I was responded to within 2 working days and to say that were in the midst of a pandemic and Christmas has just been, I can honestly say that's a fab turn around time.

I'd just like to point out, it's very difficult to understand when people write really negative stuff, some of them may be false or over exaggerated. I only know this purely because the business I work for run multiple eBay stores (over 100k positive reviews) and 9 times out of 10 they will leave a negative review such as "couldn't contact seller, didn't let me return my item. took my money and wont let me return product" etc etc and most of the time it's because they've voided their own warranty... (you don't even want to know how many people try and tell me they woke up with that big crack in their screen and lines going down it, it definitely wasn't them!!)

Honestly, you have to take all reviews with a pinch of salt.. whether they be bad or good! I will definitely say that with how good my brothers 3 PC's were, I'm happy to invest £2000 on a PC with these guys :)
