Any ideas for a graphics card

Hello I have just got the budget AMD Ryzen 5 3400G Quad Core CPU with Vega Graphics (3.7GHz-4.2GHz/6MB CACHE/AM4) and due to a fault of my own (not doing enough research before purchase) I need to purchase a graphics card as the onboard Vega graphics or not close to what I need. I do wish to play Battlefield 5 on it and I have no idea where to start when looking for a graphics card, weather my system is ok to go for a good card and would it mean changing out my power supply too for more power ? I have purchased a Ram set so it's now 16gb ram. One other question is will the inboard Vega stop taking its 2gb ram when I have a card plugged in or do I need to up my ram again ?

Look mate to be complete blunt it's just not a good system at all

To put a GPU in that would run BF5 at a reasonably level would then further unbalance the build and it would be bottlenecked hard by the fairly weak CPU

You're PSU would also 100% need upgraded which is a pain especially if you don't know what you're doing

As for the integrated GPU, if it's not being used then it will be like it doesn't exist

I wouldn't know what to do with that build to be honest with, I'm sure someone here can offer better advice though

Sadly, this is about correct. That machine will struggle to run much above the most basic games at a comfortable FPS. If you're looking for a compitent gaming system these days, you're looking at spending £1000+ and I'm going to assume this wasn't near that. If you haven't recieved the PC yet, I'd recommend cancelling the purchase and waiting a while to save a much larger budget and for prices to fall.

We could recommend you a more 'future proof' build but it wouldn't be less than £850-900 and would also mean cancelling this order as it looks like you've gone for "home/ office computer" and we'd need the extreme series to unlock faster RAM for a compitent gaming system.

Well thanks for all the quick responses, I was looking at Graphics cards around £400 second hand so saved me that splash. I already have the pc so I think I will keep hold and get a 1660. I mainly play older games anyway and World of Warcraft its just I like my War games too like BF5. I will hold for a few month then pass this onto my son for schoolwork and get advice prior to purchasing from this forum. 🙂

I think i would cancel it and get advise on a decent up gradable build

Note though its possible (probable) that prices have gone up since ordered so for the same amount that was spent, there may not be much available in the way of upgrades - you know just as a consideration, would probably be worth knowing what the budget is/was first :)

That system is fine for surfing the web, playing indie games etc, so passing it to your son would be a good move imo (if you can afford to).

Then getting a new one specced on here. I couldn’t advise buying a second hand 1660S etc, as preowned, they are stupidly inflated at the moment.

£1000 is a possible budget. £1500 is probably entry to 1440p and £1700 is where you can start showing off, £2000 you’re looking at a high end rig and £2500 has all the bells and whistles. (The pc parts in here will actually hold their value much better also).

Gotta say, best move would be return and redo.
I know thats a pain, but its got to be better than throwing more money after bad. Trying to patch it is just going to get messy, and probably cost a lot more than just starting again.

I agree with everyone saying you should build a new system here is a 1000£ budget 1080p/1440p system i made for a friend before maybe it would be a good choice.
EDIT Ram is abit slow maybe downgrade ssd to get better speed.

For a gaming system that’s worth your money, this is the minimum I’d recommend. The 1650 isn’t the best GPU but will handle 1080p 60fps gaming until you’re able to upgrade, the SSD is quite small and I’d recommend an upgrade to 512gb if you’re planning to put many games on there, and the 1TB can be doubled for about a tenner. Although, the 3600 is a great gaming CPU and the TXm 750W will allow you to make lots of upgrades over time without needing to replace it.

Also if you have a pre-existing windows pc or laptop that you don’t use or won’t use once this arrives (that isn’t the PCS PC) you can take the W10 key from it and put it on the new PC which will save about £85 off the price.
