Bluetooth has went missing

Hi,

I have run into some issues with Bluetooth. It is not showing on the taskbar nor is the driver showing under Device Manager. When I restart it appears before vanishing again.

I can oddly open Bluetooth settings but there is no option to turn it on or off.

I was on a Zoom call using my AirPods Pro which was connected via Bluetooth. The system restarted and I got an error screen with the PC Specialist logo and a QR code. The system restarted and it seems it has affected the BT. Also, I had issues using an Xbox Series 2 Elite controller via BT so was using it connected because of the signal dropping.

How did you install Windows on your machine - was it a clean install - deleting partitions, reinstalling Windows etc? or did you just activate the version you had?

Have you checked device manager to check if there are any outstanding drivers required?

Are all windows updates run and completed - including optionals?

I just done all my updates and restarted and still no sign of BT.

There was a free verison of Windows installed with the build - I got an activiton code and entered it to activate.

I have also scanned for hardware changes on Device Manager

This has also appeared under 'Other devices' I have no idea what it is as all my USB connected devices are working and showing as connected.

Its not a free version of windows installed, its a bare minimum 'build' installation to test the machine with. Just activating it may not have ensured that all drivers etc are installed properly.

It is always best to do a completely CLEAN install.

Yes, you need to start from scratch, you can't use the test windows as it's not configured.

Ah ok. So how can I do this clean install :) (sorry for the no doubt, noob question). I am sure I could Google this but would rather have the best steps for these builds.

Also, I have downloaded a lot of software - is there a way of doing a clean install without removing these?
A clean install will fully wipe the OS drive, there's no way around that.

You have to boot your own copy and run through the installer.

I went onto windows and it says to download this tool. It wipes everything and reinstalls windows. I thought I have to download it onto a usb stick but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

does this sound right?

No, you need to create a bookable USB to clean install, you can't do it from within Windows.

OK, so it has happened again. Was working fine and the computer made the disconnection noise and came up USB device not reconsigned. This is now showing again when I open up BT settings, so I am sure this has something to do with it:

BT is also missing from Device Manager. Any ideas on what else can be done?
