Looking to play all sorts, battlefield, warzone, RDR2, guildwars. Basically fps and mmorpgs.

Have a relatively decent 1080p screen, just want something that rival the new gen consoles and keep up for the next five years at least.

£2000 budget, give or take a bit.

Thanks for help guys

What is the refresh rate of your screen, or make and model if you're unsure?

Are you aware of how poor Intel are these days? It's strongly recommended to avoid them, even for gaming.

Viewsonic xg2705 27-inch, full HD, 1080p, 144mhz 1ms... I think its a good screen.

I've read very mixed reviews between and and Intel, hence the post on here.

The 3070 was out of stock, this was a small compromise
It's a very budget monitor, 27" is not really suitable for 1080p as will show the pixels. At your budget we could factor in a 1440p system and recommend a good 1440p 144Hz screen. That would make a significantly better experience all round.

Even the 3070 is greatly overpowered for 1080p 144hz. The 3060 would be ample. Going above that won't make any difference as the screen is the bottleneck and can't show anymore.

It's worth taking a read of these threads first of all, and then we can advise on a build.

Just some additional reviews of the Intel chips:

And the i9 flagship:

Okay great, thanks for the replies. I will have a quick read of everything.

I know it's not the best monitor, it was gifted to me. I'm looking to upgrade in the future but not right now.

Basically want the best I can to keep up with the new AAA games. With the possibility of upgrading the screen and other components around five years time

That's what I'm saying though, if we used all your budget on the computer, it would be pointless because the screen wouldn't be able to make use of it.

But we could do a 1440p 144Hz build including monitor at your budget.

Okay, that's great. I'd like to see the spec if you have a good one in mind.

Not gonna lie, I'm struggling with all the different options. I thought I knew some basics, but struggling a bit clearly.

Sorry if I'm being noobish about it.

The above is a good shout for a 1440p system, but you'd need a bit more for the monitor, a couple of options taking you slightly over budget would be:

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gamin...ps-lcd-gaming-monitor-black-10220251-pdt.html @£300 & full IPS

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-3...ODfJu4k7XM8-1634932257-0-gqNtZGzNA1CjcnBszQ6R @£250 & full IPS (normally retails for £450)

So the last build link sent, upgrade the motherboard to an x570 and this should give me decent 1440p 144hz, with the option to upgrade further in the future and will be able to keep up with most games for now?

Thanks again for the help people

@SpyderTracks. I think the LG 27GN600 at £250 on Overclockers is a VA panel but still good value.

I'd also add the following Dell monitors given they are having a sale
£299. S2721DGFA: https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/del...gfa/apd/210-axrq/monitors-monitor-accessories
Same nano-IPS panel as LG 27GL850.

If the OP can't stretch to £300 for the Dell or Asus IPS (I would really try to), then this is also a decent VA option
£230. S2722DGM. https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/del...dgm/apd/210-azzd/monitors-monitor-accessories
Not personally seen it in action but RTINGS gave it a good review

Has to be said that there are some great deals floating around on 27" 1440p monitors in the last few months. Really no good reason any more to go 1080p.

Black friday round the corner be good time to pick up a 1440p monitor
I think this year is going to be particularly good for monitors. 4k 144hz monitors are all IPS pretty much now, as such it's driving down IPS monitors lower down making them much more affordable.

My guess is they'll be wanting to shift existing stocks as much as possible for all the next gen HDR monitors coming.

All guesswork, not based on any rumours.
