How to disable sound card?

Hi,
I bought Fusion Studio 14 a couple weeks ago. I'm using this for pro audio recording and use Cubase as my DAW. I'm having trouble getting things working and want to disable the sound card included in the laptop. It's a 2 Channel High Def. Audio + THX Spatial Audio. I disabled the THX driver in device manager. But do I need to go into BIOS to disable the sound card itself? I don't see this option in device manager.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking for any hardware problems and read that soundcards aren't really necessary and that motherboard is enough considering that my audio processing is done there and in my attached interfaces. But I'm willing to be corrected. :)

The below is working poorly with Cubase Pro 12 and Apollo Twin interface.

You're getting confused.

You have on board sound which is built into the motherboard. You can't disable this and there's no need to.

Then you get dedicated soundcards for audio applications. These bypass the onboard sound, so it's effectively disabled.

For any audio work you need a dedicated soundcard as they have professional codecs including ASIO drivers. On board won't be enough for cubase or any DAW.

When you say it's working poorly through the Apollo Twin,have you configured it within Cubase? It may be routing through on board.

Thanks. I have Apollo connected via Cubase and use UA's USB driver. I can see these in the device manager.

Dumb question though - do I have a dedicated soundcard in my specs?

The Apollo is the soundcard.

Have you worked with audio interfaces before?

Which version of the Apollo do you have? Is it thunderbolt or USB?

Yes, I"ve been using the Apollo Twin USB for many years. In the old laptop it worked fine. I've installed the new Cubase Pro 12 though and, if you're on the Steinberg forum, you'll see that there have been many bugs.

For UA, I've installed the latest version of Console and drivers. I have my doubts my audio drop outs are from UA. It's either my laptop hardware / software configuration isn't optimal or it's Cubase, or both.

Have you applied all updates for Windows? Can you take a screenshot of your windows update page including optional updates?
