2GD AMD RADEON HD6950 vs 2GB AMD RADEON HD6970

I'm finding it hard to tell the difference between the two graphics cards apart from the price.

I ordered a 6970 but I phoned PCspecialist and they said it wont be in until next week or even the week after so I said I'd go with the 6950 instead and saved a good £50 or so.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two? I'm really looking to play all the top end P.C games really.

Cheers

Ah some of that makes sense thanks! But I find that article didn't compare them two and what advantages the 6970 has compared to the 6950.. if any?

I placed an order 4 weeks ago, 14th working days right now, and they said the ETA for the 6970's will be for yesterday but never showed up ... I hope the week or two time they told you is for people who are ordering just now and are in queue!!!

Well that was for me and I'm on my 13th working day I'm afraid :S I did phone them today cuz they told me they were gonna have some in yesturday but thats the latest with that anyway. I just stuck with the 6950, I'll upgrade it when it suits me later.

You can actually flash the 6950's to update them to a 6970, although this does void your warranty.

Not fancy going for a GTX570 about the same price as the HD6970.

No disrespect to you or your terms and conditions, but I could have chose from many other builders to spend £1700 on a PC, lead times 10 - 12 working days .. fair enough .. it's past that on 14 right now, tomorrow it would 4 weeks since ordering, I was disappointed last week when I was told that I had to wait a considerable time for the parts to be in stock for an ETA yesterday, and now someone says that it could be another 2 weeks?, no need for me to further my explanation of disgraceful.

PCS are getting my £1700 either way, they're happy .. me waiting 6+ weeks for a PC because they can't keep up with demand gives me reason not to be.

If its lack of stock of a particular item its that there simply are not that many available in the channel at that particular point in time, every system builder can and do run into the same problems unless an insane amount of stock is kept on premises and/or delivery not delayed.

All lead times are estimates based on current dispatches, they are not guarantees and this is worded very clearly at several points during the order process for exactly this reason.

How is having a customer complain on their forums about a perceived delay going to make PCS happy? Where is this 6 week figure coming from, have you been told through an official support channel by an employee of PCS that's the expected dispatch date? How is a stock issue related to whether PCS can keep up with demand or not? if a delivery has been delayed it doesn't matter how many of a particular card has been ordered, its been delayed!?

I asked yesterday on their chat and they just said it'll come when it comes, I did go to their online chat today after hearing the delay from the other user, waited about 45 mins got to 3rd in queue before they went offline, I'm not too fussed about that though, it happens.

Come tomorrow It would be 4 weeks since I've placed my order.

4 weeks + 1/2 week delay + remaining building time / testing ect ... Beyond 6 weeks I can imagine :p I didn't really complain until this news of another delay for the cards.

I can't imagine if something we're to go wrong with my PC once it's in my hands like a faulty component or cooling leak, then that would completely seal my experience.

Thanks for the response.

Just updating the situation, they will more than likely get the shipment Monday, they have ordered about 60?, with the max they could order around 80.. Not bad, I can wait till then.
