Hi Halfp
Hi Halfpipe,
I noted in my review of this laptop that there was a noticeable whistle from the cooling system at around 2kHz when the fans were at idle.
-On my machine, the whistle disappeared after a week or two of mixed use.
Based on my experience you might want to wait a while and...
Hello all,
I’ve had the 16” ionico for six months now and I’d like to give an update on how it is performing as well as some notes of keeping temps under control.
Chassis.
The casing is holding up very well and still feels as strong as the day it was purchased, the hinges are still...
Hi Alex
I've attached a screenshot from my 16" Ionico (RTX4070) whilst playing Halo Infinite for 10 minutes or so; you'll notice that the cpu temp climbs to 100'C then levels off at around 95 with spikes of 100'C. The CPU is designed to run happily (if not quietly) like this and the cooling...
Hello all,
For those with the 16” Ionico; I have just upgraded the memory in mine with 2x16GB DDR5 5600MHz sticks (they were going cheap on amazon) and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the ionico motherboard clocks them at 5200MHz which is a small bump from the 4800MHz stock parts...
Echoing Tron here;
DDR5 is dual channel per module so in theory, there's no requirement to split the memory into 2 sticks however, real-world benchmarking for quad channel RAM does show a small but consistent increase in the 0.1% and 1.0% FPS scores in many games which translates as a...

Whoa!
Thank you for the heads up on that...I haven't run userbench on my new machine yet and I would certainly caution others not to download this based on the above intelligence.

SpyderTracks comments are spot on; go for the highest spec machine that’s reasonably affordable.
I agree - it’s a shame that manufacturers use the same part numbers for desktop and laptop GPUs when they are clearly not in any way equivalent.
Just for lols I had a quick scan through the...
Re. backlight blleed.
LCD panels will always have some backlight bleedthrough -its not a bug, its a feature...but seriously, the technology of blocking light with crossed polarisers will never approach the inky-blacks of OLED technology but, I can say that the 1600p 240Hz panel on the 16"...
Hi Steve,
With regards to the 1600p screen, the most noticeable change from a 1080p unit is the aspect ratio.
Personally, I find the slightly ‘squarer’ desktop makes more sense in productivity-orientated use cases as screen objects tend to be grouped slightly more regularly within the desktop...
I’ve had the 16” RTX4070 Ionico for a couple of weeks and here’s a mini review and a few thoughts on this machine.
Dimensions.
The actual dimensions are 360 x 272 x 22
Build quality.
The lid is made from alloy and feels strong with very little flex, the rest of the chassis is plastic but...
I'll drop a hands-on review of this when it arrives in a few days.
If anyone has any questions about this machine or any tests they'd like me to do, let me know here.
