Hi,

I'm not sure if this will help or not but I use CCleaner on my PC just to maintain general system health and get rid of rubbish/old files. It can be found on this link ->

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

One of the really useful things on this is that it can check broken links in your Regisrty -- I had an issue with a software package (Corel Video Studio) where it crashed during rendering and then would not start again -- similar to your issue.

Tried un-installing and re-installing -- same problem.

Found CCleaner -- did an unistall of Video Studio, ran CCleaner and this removed alot of redundant registry entries associated with that program - did a clean install and problem was solved.

I'm not saying this is a sure fix, however it's a well regarded program for keeping you machine clutter free and I tend to use it now after/or if I un-install and programs or update versions.

Might help.
