Computer for £450

I am struggling to build a good spec with a budget of £450 max.
The computer needs a monitor, speakers, mouse and keyboard (nothing fancy just the essentials)

I was hoping someone could help me find a suitable spec, thanks in advance.

Edit: It will be used primarily for gaming like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and Left for Dead 2.

a few questions, do you need an OS? what size screen? and finally, what sort of speakers? (5.1, 7.1 etc) think i might struggle with the £450 budget though xD

Oh sorry, no OS is needed, regarding the screen and speakers nothing fancy just a 19" with 2.1 speakers or something like that.

Thanks

if anyone can comment on how they think this would perform feel free to comment. i have a friend who just built his own pc with a similar spec, although i admit i cant remember exactly which processor or gpu, but he hasnt had any problems with it so far, and i'm pretty sure he's been playing crysis 2 on it

Thanks a lot for your advice. I'm just wondering how the 2 core AMD processors line up against the 4 core processors?
Will it be a significant performance decrease going for a 2 core rather than a 4 core?

erm as far as i know, most games only utilize 2 cores currently, although i might be completely wrong (and have a feeling i am). one point though is that the 560 does have the option of having 2 extra cores unlocked, making it a quad core processor, although this isnt possible on all setups, and if it goes wrong will void your PCS warranty.

like i said though, i really have no idea how that spec would perform on games, personally, i think that if you're not too desperate for the pc, save up a little extra cash, and then buy a pc that will last you a bit longer or perform slightly better, for example this build costs £514 but if you changed the graphics card a bit you can get it to just under £500

I'll have a fiddle and see what I can come up with, although If you could stretch to an absolute maximum, what would it be? (the more you put in the longer the pc will last in terms of years>performance)

To be honest I think with that kinda budget it isn't really worth getting a custom built, I think it would be more practical to get a PC from a local store as you won't be missing out on much. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks chrisrs2292 and MrShteeeve, I think I may go with MrShteeeve's build, looks solid for the price. Appreciate the input.

surprisingly, thats the exact same build as the one i had for just under £500 xD but yeh, glad i could help :)

You had a lesser graphics card, the standard 500GB ATA HDD, a DVI cable (which isn't needed as one comes with the monitor, keyboard and mouse which aren't needed as you get them with the pc standard (wired) and also a lesser spec set of speakers. And mine cost £27 less :p
