I know its not exactly groundbreaking support i need but I was hoping for some help,

My ipod was fine working on windows vista, but i recently bought a brand new computer, operating system windows 7 premium 64bit. Tried most things, resetting ipod or using disk mode has no effect either.

Plugging my ipod in never got detected, not even as a storage device. So after installing the latest itunes software (itunes for windows 64bit) it still would not be detected by both windows in my computer and itunes.

in device manager though under disk drives it shows "apple ipod usb device".

under storage volumes it shows "unknown device"

and under USB controllers it shows "Apple mobile device USB driver"

I searched the internet before coming here, all i could find was uninstall every single bit of apple software, unplug the ipod then reinstall itunes etc, i tried all this but had bo success.

Obviously the ipod is fine as it works in my old pc and charges in this new one.

Thanks to all who can offer advice.

I love Itunes. Ever since i got my Iphone i have had no issue whatsoever with Itunes not detecting my phone and or deciding it has a corrupt file and wants to be re-installed. I have also not once been told that itunes wants to update itself and ninja install safari, but cant and i need to remove every single piece of Apple software and service.

Of course, i jest, each and every one of these happens to me on what seems like a daily basis.

I have found that plugging the Idevice straight into the usb's at the back of the machine (motherboard) helps a little as the detection when i use the front USB's on most machines is flaky (there is no logical reason for this).

When that fails i have to uninstall all the Apple goodness from my machine with a fine tooth comb including Bonjour, the software responsible for detecting Jobs shiny little pieces of joy.

Bitter? me? noooooo.

If that fails i suggest giving us a quick call so that our help desk guys can take a peek.

Yeah It is plugged in the back and removed every piece of apple software and still no luck. I shall ring when i get the chance then, cheers.

This often happens on itunes :,( Go on dev manager, right click on unknown device, update driver, search automagically, hopefully it finds the apple controller u mentioned.
