Warranty information needed before potential purchase

Hi guys,

I just wanted some information on a few aspects.
Firstly i cant seem to find it on the website but is it possible to pay with a credit card?

Secondly if i purchase the 3 year Platinum warranty what exactly does that entail?

Please correct me if im wrong.

From what i can make out is that, for the 3 years if for example my graphics card fails etc you'll send me a replacement or have the pc collected for repairs if the problem is more serious?

Lastly once the 3 year warranty is over is it possible to purchase or extend the platinum warranty? ( i.e an extra 1 or 2 years?).

Thanks.

Here you go dude -

Warranty Options

With every computer we manufacture we provide a minimum 3 year RTB (return to base) warranty with at least a 1 month free collection and return for peace of mind should anything go wrong. We also offer a very cost effective upgrade to a full 1 year collect and return warranty for an additional £5, which we strongly advise all customers to consider before they purchase.

Collect and Return Warranties

When purchasing a collect and return warranty, you have the peace of mind in knowing that there will be no cost involved should a problem occur - you can simply box up the computer in its original packaging and our courier will call round on a working day convenient to you to collect the computer. We will then repair your computer and return it to you free of any carriage charges.

Our warranty options look like this:

Warranty Service Parts Warranty Period Labour Warranty Period Collection Costs Covered Hardware Technical Support Period Hardware Technical Support Cost
3 Year Standard Return-to-Base 1 Year 3 Years 1 Month Lifetime 0844 - max 5p p/m
3 Year Silver Return-to-Base 1 Year 3 Years 1 Year Lifetime 0844 - max 5p p/m
3 Year Gold Return-to-Base 2 Years 3 Years 2 Years Lifetime 0844 - max 5p p/m
3 Year Platinum Return-to-Base 3 Years 3 Years 3 Years Lifetime 0844 - max 5p p/m

Comparing Warranties with Other Companies

When looking at the warranty options a company offers, it's important to read between the lines to see what you're actually getting as opposed to what you can be lead to believe you're getting. Some companies offer a "3 year warranty" but when you read their terms and conditions this simply equates to a 1 year RTB warranty with an additional 2 years "labour warranty". They often do not collect for free, making their warranty package very basic (and potentially costly) in comparison to our options.

Warranty Exclusions

Accidental Damage.
General wear and tare, misuse, neglect or damage by the buyer.
Incorrectly installed goods.
Consumables (Ink Cartridges, batteries, etc).
Data Recovery & Backing up of data, files and programmes.
Remedy of incorrectly installed/incompatible software which is not provided by PC Specialist Ltd.
Remedy of viruses.
Compatability of 3rd party software/hardware.

And for payment -

Payment Details

We accept payment for orders by Cheque, Bank Transfer or Credit/Debit Card. You can also choose from our finance options. To see finance information and examples, please click here.

Cheques

If you wish to pay for an order by cheque our bank details are provided once you place an order. To pay by cheque, you can either:

Place a cheque into our company bank account.
Post a cheque to us through the post.
We do not wait for cheques to clear before we process your order (although the cheque will have cleared by the time your order is dispatched) and so by putting a cheque into our account, your order will show in our account quicker than any other method. If you choose to place a cheque into our bank account, you will need to write your order number on the back of the cheque and you will also need to ask the cashier to use the order number as a reference on the transaction.

If you choose to post a cheque to us (our address is below), you do not need to enclose any documentation - you simply need to write your order number and full name on the back of the cheque and post it to us.

Bank Transfer (BACS)

If you wish to pay for your order by a bank transfer (BACS) our bank details are provided once you place an order. To pay by BACS, you can either:

Call your bank and arrange for a funds transfer to our account.
Transfer the funds through online banking (very easy).
Take the cash into any branch of our bank and ask for the cash to be deposited into our account.
If you decide to pay by bank transfer (bacs), you simply need to transfer the funds to our bank account number and sort code. Please include your order number as a reference on the payment. Please do not write "order number xxxxx" as a reference, you simply need to write the order number itself - e.g. "64925". A bank transfer is a free method of paying, so please do not let the banks fool you into paying £20+ for a CHAPS payment (which is a same day transfer).

Credit Cards

We accept all major credit and debit cards and payments are processed securely online by HSBC (HSBC Merchant Services). If you pay by a debit card (VISA Delta, Maestro, VISA Electron, Solo, etc) there will be no payment surcharges. If you choose to pay by VISA or Mastercard, in order to cover increased admin costs there will be a 2% surcharge. Most companies build this surcharge into the total price, but we believe in offering the customer the best price and therefore customers who do not pay by credit card will benefit from a reduced cost.

Thanks for the quick replys :).

One last thing i wanted to ask.

With the platinum warranty do you send out replacement parts for the 3 years? or is it just all collect and return?

For example if a graphics card breaks down i can install a replacement(from you guys) my self without the need to return the pc to the base causing unnecessary hassle.

Thanks.

Hi Deathz,

Welcome to the forums.

We will always attempt to fix the PC whilst it is still with you and yes, that includes sending out replacement components should any develop a fault. The main reason for us not to send out components for the customer to fit is when the fault lies with the CPU/Motherboard. To replace either of these it would basically require a rebuild of the PC and we would rather do this at our premises to ensure no other components are damaged and the job is done correctly to prevent any further issues.

Thanks.

As long as we have stock of the necessary components we will send a replacement to you and guide you through fitting the component should you require us to.

Hope this helps!

If its out of stock / end of life alternative arrangements would have to be made.

I was wondering about the returns thing myself.

if I purchase the gold option, with 2 years return to base, should the worst happen and I have to return it multiple times, I'm covered as long as it's within the 2 years?

I've been fortunate to have never needed to return anything more than once, so I'm unsure about ongoing issues after the initial return.
