Vortex II 15 Noise levels

Hi,

I am really interested in the Vortex II 15 (was going to config it with a 6990m and a i7 2760QM).

But what kinda noise levels should I be expecting?
I don't mind that if would get loud while playing the likes of Crysis 2, The Witcher 2 and Metro 2033. But what about much less demanding games or for browsing/music/videos and also then in idle.

Would an Optimus II be a better option as I really want a laptop that does not sound like a hoover all the time.

I am considering the Asus G series as a result, but I really HATE their looks, I think the clevo laptops look the business.

Thanks!

Welcome to our forums :

It is difficult to state what the noise levels are, because what one person thinks as quiet might not be interpreted as quite by another. The Optimus II is quieter because there is not a fan for the the GPU in addition to the CPU, but based on our previous threads of happy Vortex II customers, there haven't been any complaints about noise levels:

Thanks!

It really does look like an amazing laptop and I really want to order it... (really want a matt screen and an SSD as well).

But would love to hear directly from someone who currently has one and what they think of the noise levels. Those links are just people who purchased the laptop and their initial reviews.

I do expect noise when its under stress but its more so when its "idle" or near idle that would bother me. For example I currently have a 13" unibody macbook, that I would consider whisper quite when doing light operations, ...it does however sound like a wind tunnel when under load (...any load).

i think optimus is the one with the button that turns off the graphics card when not in gaming, saving a lot of power and noise
