    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST A Gaming Laptop

The Recoil is indeed a better machine than the Nova. They're both DTRs, but I see the Recoil as an improvement in everything (even on the drawbacks :P ), assuming that you can go for an i9+2070 or a i7+2080. But then the issue will be the cost, it is quite expensive. If you're thinking about an...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST A Gaming Laptop

If you're only looking for pure performance, I tend to recommend the Nova (I have one btw) because it uses a desktop CPU. A build like the below will be quite better (performance-wise) than the Vyper that you chose. The former has a slightly smaller screen and is also smaller in general (a lot...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Benchmark Results Leaderboard

While those scores look amazing to me, 3Dmark seems to say that most people with similar specs to yours usually get between 32200 and 36799. So there might be a bit of performance yet to be squeezed out of your machine, but I cannot tell exactly where. I would guess on the memory speeds? You...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST A Gaming Laptop

Hi @juliettec49 ! Apart from the gaming, coding and video editing (which are more kind of software usage), what can you tell about the actual laptop usage? Like why are you choosing a laptop instead of a PC in the first place? Do you need it to be portable? To have great battery life? To be thin...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST 15,6" RECOIL IV vs 15,6" PROTEUS VII ?

No worries! I know a lot about the Nova (and a few other laptops in that price range) because I did lots of research before deciding to buy mine back in September. I do like the Recoil a lot and didn't get one myself because it was above my budget. But what got my attention was the aesthetics...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST 15,6" RECOIL IV vs 15,6" PROTEUS VII ?

Another thing that I want to add is: Do you understand what it means to have those Ryzen CPUs in a laptop and what the Nova actually is, with its advantages and drawbacks? So you're right, both the 3900 and 3700x are desktop CPUs and the only PCS laptop that supports an AMD desktop CPU is the...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST 15,6" RECOIL IV vs 15,6" PROTEUS VII ?

Actually, the Ryzen 7 3700X has better single core performance than the Ryzen 9 3900, as it has slightly better all core boost clocks. In my opinion, the single core performance of the 3700x should be pretty close (if not better) than the 10875H, while being a lot better on multi-thread. Try to...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST NOVA - Rzyen9 3900's Review with Linux Installed

I know it doesn't have anything to do with your keyboard issue, but why is your cinebench single-core performance so low? I can get around 460-470 on my Ryzen 3 3100. The multi-core seems about right, though.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST 15,6" RECOIL IV vs 15,6" PROTEUS VII ?

Regarding the build quality, from what I know "Aluminium cover" is just the screen lid cover, while "aluminium chassis" is most (if not all) of the laptop. I'm not sure if the latter has the bottom cover also in aluminium, but the palm rest and area around the keyboard definitely are. So...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST 14" LAFITÉ PRO II is good?

Unfortunately, I know nothing about the Lafité, but I share some thoughts on the high refresh rate screens. I came from an old Dell 60Hz and my new PCS Nova has 144Hz. I was expecting a huge difference (as you're probably are), but I can't say that I noticed much of an improvement, to be...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Optimus series 17.3" - Keyboard keys peeling off after 2 months.

Well, what I can tell you is that I got my laptop at around the same time as you and my keys have not started to show anything like that. But I agree that they feel like being painted over and not very smooth, so hopefully that won't happen with mine as well. So you could try to get a...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Advice on Defiance VII Specs

No problem! Regarding the storage, I don't think that having a 1Tb samsung drive is needed (unless the budget won't be a problem). When I mentioned endurance as being an improvement, I was thinking about multiple daily writes and deletes (as happens with cache and Virtual memory). I don't think...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Advice on Defiance VII Specs

Sorry, my bad.. the CPU is indeed the same (I thought the defiance had a 10750H), but I what I said about the GPU is still correct. The defiance has a 2070 max-q, which is a low-powered version of the 2070 mobile. It will perform the same (if not worse) as a 2060 mobile. Regarding the Samsung...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Advice on Defiance VII Specs

Any specific reason why you opted for the defiance instead of the vyper? The build quality is a lot better on the vyper and the defiance has been getting some screen problems recently: Laptop Screen Falling Out of Case | PCSPECIALIST The vyper would be around £100 more expensive, but it could...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova Wifi Issue

I have exactly the same laptop and wifi router and I have no problem with it. However, I noticed that if you're using the HDMI port to an external screen, the wifi signal drops a bit, but I'm quite close to the router and don't have speed or dropout issues. So keep an eye on it.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Laptop doesn't turn on right away without charger in

Yeah, I confirm this. My Nova does take a bit longer to power on when on battery, I would say 1 second when on power and 2 seconds when on battery. If I press it for the same period of time that I would have done when on power, it does not turn on. So @Snax , if you press the power button for a...

It depends on his usage. If he just wants to carry it to places (but not really play while on the go) and he's travelling by car or something like that, could be an option. If by plane, the power bricks could go in the checked-in baggage and only the laptop would be on a backpack. So you get to...

This is what your build could look like, I would say it's even better than your current PC  Chassis & Display Recoil Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD 300Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080) + G-Sync Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i9 Ten-Core Processor i9-10850K (3.6GHz) 20MB Cache Memory...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Advice needed.

For that budget, I would highly recommend the 17" Recoil IV, however keep in mind that the battery life is quite bad and it is a heavy and thick machine. But it is the best performance you can get for gaming out of a laptop, still being kind of portable (you can carry it around, anyway), just...
