    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Any interesting hobbies?

Interested to see some of the mugs on this thread, does anyone else make their own? I am currently into dye sublimation printing and putting designs on mugs is quite simple, although you need a heat press to do it.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST STUDENT - Build and discount help please

You should be able to transfer your Windows Licence from the old machine and that will save a good few quid. PCS do not do discounts as a rule but no harm in asking them, although that would have to be via their email or phone, this is just a user's forum. What is your maximum budget as that...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Support and warranty - are you happy?

I have a PCS desk top and have bought about five laptops from them, either for myself, friends or family and have no major issues. As a Linux user I had expected some difficulties but any I had were purely down to software issues and nothing PCS could have done anything about. They rightly say...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST I cant believe its 9 years old.

An AMD build would be better, they are way ahead of Intel in all areas. Running temperature is no longer a problem with AMD but the Intel i9 did not get the name "Arsonists Friend" for no reason. Intel are also still on an old architecture with quite a few security vulnerabilities and while they...

Worth adding, although it is my guess you will do this anyway, avoid things like Unetbootin and download a proper iso from the distro home site and boot from that. I find there are too often errors with Unetbootin and the like.

Cannot say anything about the Nova but I have installed various 'nix distros on several PCS machines and mostly has been quite simple, on one of the older Optimus machines there was a bit of hassle, a log in loop but that was a GPU driver problem and easy to fix. My former main distro was...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST MSI underhand practices

Slightly off topic but another example of how badly these things are check/not checked is the awful way Facebook discriminate. In countries where there is a high level of prejudice against certain groups, the sort that can lead to violence against or death, the one way apostates in Islamic...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Specs - what you guys think?

AMD really does like the fastest RAM possible, so worth the extra. As PCS have an open case policy, you can work on the machines without voiding warranty, if it is a budget issue why not go with 16GB RAM now and add more if needed.

Sorry to hear about your poor service. Which laptops were the problem and what were the faults, I am afraid posting that will be of no help to you but if others on here have had similar experiences with certain models it may help toward identifying if there is a common fault with a particular...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST MSI underhand practices

Certainly agree about broken review process. Few years back I pre-ordered a book by Lawrence Krauss on Amazon. This book had not been published but there were already a lot of one star reviews saying how awful and wrong the book was. In this case it was religious freaks having a go at a...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST My potential PC build / feedback

If you go to the configurator page of this site, choose AMD builds, that will give you all compatible stuff.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST My potential PC build / feedback

I would suggest an AMD build as they are way ahead of Intel in all areas.

Looks interesting, although having read the rules, especially about hate speech and stuff like that I will have to remember never to post about Apple or Microsoft's Steven Balmer.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Surely this is a mistake?

Not sure where the idea that no one knows when the 3080 series will be out comes from:

It was during the filming of Dangerman that McGoohan first saw the Village in Portmeirion. Story editior, although credited as script editor for 13 episodes of the Prisoner, George Markstein always claimed Number 6 was former agent John Drake but McGoohan said he was not. Markstein also worked...

Good choice of episode, Free For All. Providing no more restriction I am off the Prisoner Convention in Pormeirion next April:

One good thing about lock down is that I now have nearly all of my old DVDs on to hard drive, so now am catching up up on some old favourites. My all time favourite series was the Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan, if it were not for the colour quality this series would not look dated at all...

I have still got a couple of Lonnie Donegan records, 78rpm, plus a children's record: Spark's Magic Piano, a few classical ones as well. Must have been hard work listening to a complete symphony when you had to change discs and wind the player up about 10 times per movement.

Valve amps are great and there was a lot of variety of sound. One of my favourites was a Vox AC30, it had a quite dirty sound which was great for Blues and Rock. Music is my main interest and I do really like Blu Ray as, unlike CDs, you can here the full sound. try listening to an orchestral...
