PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST My PC is running very SLOWLY

You're going to have to help us out, we've been here before and spent a lot of time on this, you need to be very clear about what you're seeing. Where are you seeing 100% disk usage? Are you experiencing slow performance? Bear in mind you've chosen an old SATA SSD, so they are significantly...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST what to do with old laptop

Laptops don't really fetch much second hand because it's so easy to pick up an off the shelf laptop with significantly faster hardware for very little (£250). As such, I always buy a laptop with the view that I'll run it into the ground and accept the money is spent. As @Martinr36 says, you...

    PCSPECIALIST Faulty unit?

Check for a firmware update. I think you're expecting a little much from the "ghosting" issue, this is one of the cheapest entry level 1440p VA panels on the market. It's also over 2 years olf now. VA inherently suffer from ghosting, it's why they're so cheap, it's not something you can work...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST My PC is running very SLOWLY

If you open up resource manager you can see what's writing to disk. Where are you seeing that's it's 100% usage because previously when you've raised this we haven't see it anywhere? A windows reset will keep all the same problems, you need to do a clean install to be sure it's clean.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST CPU fan doesn't spin correctly anymore and pc gets very hot (1 year old)

Warranty allows for this, you couldn't maintain the laptop otherwise. If the fan is broken you'd have to RMA but either way you wouldn't be able to tell without the normal maintenance.

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Check Specs

We need a maximum budget to work to, otherwise something in the £6000 mark would be optimal for this kind of use, and then another £2000 for a suitable monitor.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST AI and Unreal Engine Development PC

The coolant is non conductive, so it wouldn't cause any damage even if there was a leak, but these coolers these days almost never leak unless there's been obviously forceful damage to the pipes. The worst it would ever do is make a little mess which could be wiped away with a cloth. They're...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST AI and Unreal Engine Development PC

It's normally advised that the primary drive is just for OS and programs, you wouldn't hold any data on there as if there are any issues with the OS that lead to requiring a reinstall, you'd lose all that data. So if you have huge program installations that would require that additional space...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST CPU fan doesn't spin correctly anymore and pc gets very hot (1 year old)

any performance laptop takes regular maintenance to keep temperatures optimum. If there's a build up of dust, then fans won't be able to operate normally. Plus it will need repasting about once a year. Also, windows needs to be configured correctly for cooling to be optimal.

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST HDD drive disappeared

It's a hybrid drive which means it has a small SSD cache paired to a normal HDD. It's likely the SSD portion is failing. They were never very good performers anyway and the cache wouldn't be used when it's a storage drive.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Lockdown - What's Worth a Watch?

I entirely agree, I think the last few series where it became a progressive story week to week was so so clever and so incredibly current, absolute genius. The episode that still gets me is the World of Warcraft one, I thought that was so cleverly done, and I watched it with my nephews and they...
