PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

So between the cooling pad and the undervolt I think the CPU issue is solved even under gaming load. The bigger issue is the fans going 100% for the GPU even if the temps aren't getting too high. Its not the worst thing in the world but its fairly noticeable.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

Yes thats exactly what I'm seeing. 3149 on my undervolted profile. Interestingly thats actually higher than the default which was coming in hotter. The Gamer mode looks like it underclocks the cores down to 3542 and undervolts to 1.05. Running that in cinebench only gets up to about 75...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

Yes I just used the manual settings and only reduced the voltage setting on one profile, leaving the cores at 3600 cycles. This is on the 3600 variant of the Nova. I didn't change the PPT. You can do this in the Auto Overclocking section but I don't want to piss around too much if its going to...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6 Overheating CPU

Similar build and issue. I tested a profile undervolting to 1.125 vs the stock of 1.2375 and its dropped temperatures pretty well. Under a 15% CPU load its mid 60s. I'm expecting a cooling pad today as well so will experiment a little further. The aspiration is to keep it below 80 in a gaming...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Nova 15.6

Do you use a cooling pad? After mine failed QA due to temperatures I'm thinking I'll probably need to take any and all measures to help with cooling.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Just gotta be patient and go off the official updates rather than trying to guess whats going to happen. Ultimately its built when its built and you can be happy or unhappy about it but you won't get it any faster.

Now testing, 1 day after entering building. Moving along at a nice clip.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST How exactly does an item not being in stock affect lead times?

My experience from ordering a Nova laptop about 6 weeks ago would suggest its something of a hybrid. You'll move towards the front of the queue as normal but if the parts arent around then you'll be in limbo. In your case I'd suspect that you wouldn't be that effected (seeing as the parts should...

My Nova has now entered building so they must have received the chassis.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Should be fairly rapid under normal circumstances. Most of us stuck in limbo are waiting for the Nova chassis to come back in.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Thanks for the intel. If thats true I'm actually quite surprised that they haven't started working on mine. I ordered it just after they ran out of stock (about a month ago). Must be super popular if I wasn't in the first 50 orders since then.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Yeah, nuts I was hoping to have it by Monday but I expect its going to be mid June between build time and delivery.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Yeah I might message them tomorrow morning for an update. I can appreciate stock levels being a thing but I'd hoped we'd have heard something 4 weeks after I made the initial order. Might just be that there still isn't any stock of the 2070 for building.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Anyone placed an order lately?

Oh I guess I should ask which chassis you ordered? Might be differences between 2070 and 2060 for example.

Interesting. Mine has been in preproduction since the 2nd May but they haven't moved on it at all today.

Guess I'll ride shotgun on this thread to ask if anyone has had a Nova enter building phase yet? They were supposed to get stock in yesterday.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Little bit of help - New gaming laptop

Yeah I had the same decision whether to take the ASUS TUF A15 or the Nova from PCS. It basically comes down to what you want to use it for. The ASUS is more portable and has better battery life but the Nova has the ability to take a 2070 GPU and upgrade its CPU. There isnt really enough...
